Your opportunity
Dillon’s Transportation & Facilities technical group is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team of professionals. You will have the opportunity to work on new and exciting projects while providing clients with a fully integrated and superior customer experience.
Project types include buildings in the following sectors: government (federal, provincial), healthcare, institutional (e.g., schools, universities), commercial spaces (e.g., retail, office), and long term care. Examples of two recent projects that an intermediate team member has worked on include the following:
- Arena/event centre : The team member led the mechanical design and construction administration services for a new event centre for a significant institutional client. The design included all of the typical mechanical services but with the additional challenge issued by the client of only wanting to use heat recovered from the ice plant to heat the building - they did not want any auxiliary or supplemental heating used within the building! The team member was also the PM for the broader internal multidisciplinary team and provided broader leadership outside of our mechanical group for the project.
- Net-zero long term care facility : Long term care facilities - and healthcare facilities in general - are becoming an ever increasing percentage of our work. Many of them are starting to target aggressive sustainability targets. In addition to leading the mechanical design, the team member also led the energy engineering team which included running the workshops with the client to set the target, developing the system options, designing the geothermal heat pump system, and providing general sustainability guidance to the broader design team. The team member was also the PM for the broader internal multidisciplinary team and provided broader leadership outside of our mechanical group for the project.
This position is available at our Halifax or Sydney offices in Nova Scotia, with the opportunity for flexible work arrangements to help balance the competing demands of work and personal life.
