Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer with design and manufacturing experience to lead mechanical engineering projects in Alberta. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership, design oversight, and mentorship while ensuring projects meet industry standards, codes, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design, analysis, and execution of mechanical systems and components
  • Apply engineering principles (materials, tolerances, thermal management, structural analysis) to industrial or advanced manufacturing projects
  • Develop and review mechanical drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical reports
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers
  • Review vendor drawings, data sheets, and technical documentation for compliance
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant codes and standards (ASME, CSA, ABSA, API, or aerospace-equivalent standards)
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure project integration
  • Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and HAZOPs
  • Support construction, commissioning, and field troubleshooting as required
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget
Skills, Education, Experience and Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Registered P.Eng. in Alberta or eligible for APEGA registration
  • Minimum 5 years of mechanical engineering experience
  • Demonstrated experience in mechanical design and manufacturing
  • Strong knowledge of materials, thermal systems, fluid mechanics, and structural analysis
  • Proficiency with CAD, FEA, and engineering software (SolidWorks, ANSYS, etc.)
  • Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and act as technical authority on projects
  • Office-based with occasional site visits as required

  • Must have valid drivers license and own reliable transportation
  • Travel may be required in the Edmonton area
