Job description

Our client is a leading provider of custom‑engineeredprocess‑equipment systems used across biotech, pharmaceutical, food, beverage, personal care and other advanced manufacturing sectors. They design, build, test and commission fully integrated stainless‑steel systems for high‑performanceproduction environments.

This role is ideal for a designer who enjoysturning engineering requirements into practical, buildable 3D models andsupporting fabrication teams throughout construction.

TheOpportunity

As a Mechanical Designer, you willdevelop detailed 3D models and fabrication drawings for custom process systems.Working from process designs, engineering sketches, P&IDs andspecifications, you will produce the models, drawings and bills of materialrequired to build equipment in a fast‑paced, hands‑on environment.

You’ll collaborate closely with processengineers, mechanical engineers, fabrication leads and skilled trades to ensuredesigns are accurate, buildable and aligned with project requirements.

KeyResponsibilities
3DModelling & Detailed Design
  • Interpret engineering sketches, P&IDs, specifications andclient drawings.
  • Develop detailed 3D models of modular process systems usingSolidWorks.
  • Use pipe‑routing and weldment tools to create accurate, fabrication‑readydesigns.
  • Prepare fabrication and assembly drawings for equipment, piping andsupport structures.
  • Maintain accurate bills of material for purchasing, fabrication andproject control.
  • Create or revise AutoCAD drawings when required.
Engineering& Constructability
  • Perform or verify mechanical design calculations appropriate to theassignment.
  • Support stress, strain and thermal analysis using SolidWorksSimulation when required.
  • Review layouts for constructability, accessibility, serviceabilityand installation.
  • Lead model reviews with engineers and fabrication leads, incorporating required changes.
  • Apply sound design practices, applicable codes and projectspecifications.
FabricationSupport & Design Control
  • Provide timely technical support to engineers and fabricationtrades.
  • Coordinate design changes with engineering and project‑managementteams.
  • Visit the shop floor to confirm fit, resolve questions and ensuredesign intent is achieved.
  • Maintain models, drawings and BOMs throughout revisions inaccordance with quality standards.
  • Capture lessons learned and improve modelling practices andstandard details.
