Main Function

Provide design engineering support to land‑based military projects, adhering to project plans and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Promote and implement Systems and / or Mechanical Engineering practices across the engineering function.
  • Apply pragmatic and best‑practice engineering techniques to support projects and business development.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of internal business management procedures.
  • Collaborate across teams to drive performance and challenge the status quo with innovative ideas to reduce costs and improve quality and delivery timelines.
  • Ensure design solutions meet regulatory, specification, quality, and certification requirements within schedule and budget.
  • Act as a liaison between project management and engineering teams.
  • Design safe products that meet statutory requirements and environmental tolerances.
  • Produce, amend, and check drawings and item lists for use by other departments.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of product developments and recommend innovations.
  • Manage product configuration, build standards, and document control.
  • Participate in design review meetings (SRR, ERR, PDR, CDR, change boards).
  • Support design change management processes and provide cross‑departmental support.
  • Perform PLM administration and configuration control activities.
  • Create and update Engineering Change Notifications.
  • Build top‑level assemblies and BOM structures in PLM for new products / projects.
  • Collaborate with electrical and manufacturing engineering functions.
  • Provide technical guidance and oversee junior engineers as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Engineering Manager.
Requirements
  • Domain experience in mechanical engineering; modular shelter product experience preferred.
  • Broad understanding of manufacturing techniques (sheet metal fabrication, riveting, bonding, welding).
  • Must be eligible for Canadian Government Clearances.
Assets
  • Experience in aircraft or land design, with structural and / or analysis experience preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage large, complex tasks across multiple projects and priorities.
  • Strong understanding of product safety, standards, and rugged environments.
  • Detail‑oriented with excellent problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and adhere to schedules and budgets.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and Microsoft Word / Excel.
  • Experience with Windchill PLM preferred (including part attributes, structures, and change management).
  • Effective decision‑making and technical guidance skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; fluency in English required, French beneficial.
