Job summary

Crown Holdings, Inc. in Calgary is seeking a Manufacturing Equipment Mechanic for the CROWN Metal Packaging Canada LP, Beverage Packaging Division, located in Foothills Industrial Park, South East Calgary.

The role involves mechanical adjustments, maintenance, repairs, installation, and modification of manufacturing equipment for aluminum can production. You will perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot mechanical malfunctions, and collaborate with production teams to minimize downtime and

Qualifications

  • Previous experience and knowledge of production equipment and mechanical operations in a manufacturing environment.
  • Mechanical background (millwright, mechanic) and/or experience.
  • Strong mechanical skills.
  • Minimum of 3 years manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Knowledge and work history focusing on quality and safety in every aspect of the job.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects/tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Motivated and committed to learning.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, regularly stand, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently.
  • Attention to detail and results driven.
  • Work towards minimizing downtime while improving quality.
  • Keep work area safe, clean, and organized.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain safety and quality mindedness with a willingness for excellence in all aspects of the job.
  • Ensure optimum operation of manufacturing and facility equipment by repairing and maintaining motors, gearboxes, pneumatic components, hydraulic systems, conveyor systems, and thermal systems.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical malfunctions, locating sources of problems through interaction with production employees, equipment observation, and referencing blueprints, diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer instructions, and engineering specifications.
  • Remove or dismantle defective or malfunctioning equipment, components, and parts using necessary hand tools, power tools, specialty tools, and equipment.
  • Adjust functional equipment, components, and parts using standard and non‑standard hand tools and necessary specialty tools.
  • Follow verbal instructions for completion of assigned tasks.
  • Perform preventative maintenance of all production equipment.
  • Assist with and learn troubleshooting of production and facilities equipment breakdowns.
  • Keep Production Supervisors/Managers informed of operational status of equipment and production issues.
  • Follow standard operating procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
