Under general supervision, the Mechanic 3 plans, schedules and assigns work of Mechanics; schedules, coordinates maintenance and repair of equipment; trains and instructs mechanics as to proper maintenance and repair procedures; and performs most difficult maintenance and mechanical repair on County equipment such as repairs electrical components, replaces and rebuilds engines, motors, transmissions, hydraulic systems, etc
An example of acceptable qualifications:
Associate’s degree from an accredited college, university, or technical training institute with major course work Automotive Technology, Automotive Technician, Automotive Maintenance and Repair or Diesel Technician or closely related field and three (3) years’ work experience in performing equipment and vehicle maintenance and repair; or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Must possess a valid state of residency driver’s license. Must remain insurable under the County’s vehicle insurance policy. Must have or be able to obtain within the first ninety (90) calendar days of appointment, a valid Class A - Commercial Driver's License issued by the state of residency.
