Job summary

Kolk Farms Ltd. is seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Mechanic to keep our fleet of farm machinery, trucks, trailers and specialized equipment running at peak efficiency. You will work under the Shop Manager in a rural Alberta setting, focusing on minimizing downtime and supporting daily farm operations.

The role emphasizes hands‑on workmanship, teamwork, and a commitment to safety and quality in a fast‑paced farm environment. Journeyman status and a valid license are preferred.

Qualifications

• Journeyman ticket preferred; equivalent hands‑on experience considered.
• Valid Class 5 license with clean driving record; Class 1/3 is an asset.
• 1+ years of agricultural mechanic experience.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with shop manager to schedule service work and repairs, reducing disruptions.
• Perform scheduled maintenance on remote equipment (generators, gearboxes, hydraulics).
• Maintain and repair construction equipment, tractors, trucks, and trailers.
• Diagnose electrical and hydraulic systems.
• Develop cost estimates and quote parts; help manage inventories of critical parts.
• Maintain a clean, safe, organized work environment.
• Other duties as required.

The Opportunity

Kolk Farms Ltd. is looking for a skilled and dependable Heavy Duty Mechanic to keep our fleet of farm machinery, trucks, trailers, and specialized agricultural equipment running at peak efficiency. Reporting to the Shop Manager, you will play a critical role in minimizing equipment downtime and supporting daily farm and feedlot operations. This is a hands‑on role for someone who takes pride in quality workmanship and thrives in a fast‑paced, rural agricultural environment.

Key Responsibilities (Include but are not limited to):

• Coordinate with the shop manager to schedule service work, prioritize repairs, and support maintenance planning to reduce operational disruptions.
• Perform scheduled service and maintenance on remote equipment (generators/gearboxes/hydraulic systems)
• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on construction equipment/ agricultural tractors / highway trucks / light vehicles and trailers.
• Perform diagnostics on electrical and hydraulic systems.
  
• Develop cost estimates, quote parts, and help manage inventories of critical parts.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
• Other duties as required.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Journeyman ticket in heavy duty equipment preferred. Equivalent hands‑on experience will also be considered.
  
• Valid Class 5 driver's license with clean drivers abstract. Class 1 or 3 license considered an asset
• 1+ years in an agricultural mechanic role

Job Type:

• Full‑time, permanent

Schedule:

• 11 days on, 3 days off
