Job summary

St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton is seeking a Building Maintenance Mechanic to perform maintenance, inspection, repair and servicing of equipment, machinery and building systems across multiple Hamilton sites.

The role requires a 2-year certificate or relevant trade qualification, plus 2 years of experience. It involves reading schematics, welding and hydraulic skills, lifting heavy loads, and safety compliance. Work is primarily in the Charlton, King and Satellite Health facilities.

Qualifications

• Two-year community college certificate or equivalent.
• Certificate of Qualification in a relevant mechanical/technical trade.
• Two years of related mechanical/technical experience.
• Ability to read schematics and technical manuals.
• Capable of lifting heavy loads and standing/walking for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Check and repair mechanical devices such as pumps, conveyors, plumbing systems.
• Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance throughout the complex.
• Use hand and power tools and testing equipment.
• Work both inside and outside the building.
• Assist tradespeople and other workers as required.
• Adhere to safety regulations and keep tools/work area in standard condition.
• Participate in Hospital contingency plans for emergencies.
