Job summary

Pomerleau in Lévis, Canada is seeking a heavy equipment mechanic to join the Logistics team, maintaining and repairing our fleet of construction vehicles and machinery on large-scale projects.

You will diagnose, repair, and test equipment, participate in training, and ensure work meets manufacturer specs, with a strong emphasis on safety and reliability.

Qualifications

  • DEC in construction equipment mechanics is required.
  • Three (3) years or more of relevant experience on large-engine equipment.
  • Knowledge of CAT ET diagnostic systems and heavy equipment used in construction.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect equipment operation and detect defects.
  • Adjust or replace defective parts using hand or power tools.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic failures using diagnostic systems.
  • Test repaired equipment to ensure proper function and manufacturer specs.
  • Prepare inspection certificates following repairs and inspections.
  • Clean and lubricate equipment and perform routine maintenance.
  • Discuss operation and upcoming repairs with supervisor.
  • Participate in training related to new equipment.

As a heavy equipment mechanic working in the Logistics team at Pomerleau, you will be in charge of maintaining and repairing the company's vehicles, equipment, machinery and other heavy equipment. Supporting our large-scale building and infrastructure construction projects - ranging from $1.5 million to over $1 billion - you will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of equipment such as hydraulic shovels, tractors, wheel loaders, off-highway trucks, lifting (cranes, etc.), surface and underground drilling, piling and concreting.

What you will do

  • Inspect equipment operation and examine various machines to detect defects and malfunctions.
  • Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, accessories, or components using hand or power tools.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic failures using computerized monitoring systems or other diagnostic equipment to determine the scope of required repairs.
  • Test repaired equipment to ensure it is in proper working condition and that repairs meet manufacturer specifications.
  • Prepare inspection certificates following repair and inspection.
  • Clean and lubricate equipment and perform other routine maintenance tasks.
  • Discuss vehicle operation, overall condition, and upcoming repairs with the supervisor.
  • Participate in training related to the acquisition of new equipment and machinery.

This role could be for you if you have

  • A college diploma (DEC) in construction equipment mechanics.
  • A heavy vehicle mechanic certification.
  • Three (3) years or more of relevant experience working on large-engine equipment.
  • Knowledge of CAT ET diagnostic systems and a solid understanding of the various types of heavy equipment used in the construction industry.
