Job summary

AgeCare Shawnee in Calgary, AB is hiring a Health Care Aide (HCA) for regular part-time work (0.70 FTE). You will be part of the care team, supporting licensed staff to deliver safe, thorough basic resident care.

Responsibilities include personal care, mobility assistance, feeding support, and participation in therapy and social activities, with emphasis on dignity and quality of life for residents.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in continuing care or related environment preferred.
• Post-secondary education an asset.
• Must be fluent in English, both orally and in writing.
• Completion of a recognized PCA/HCA Certificate or equivalent.
• Active registration with CLHA.

Responsibilities

• Bath, shower, and wash residents following care procedures.
• Transfer/assist with resident transfers using lifts and belts.
• Feed/assist with meals according to care plans.
• Provide routine treatments and care under supervision.
• Assist residents to travel around the facility.
• Assist dining room transitions and mobility with aids.
• Support residents to/from beauty parlor, physiotherapy, and recreation.
• Accompany residents to social and therapy activities.
• Always wear a transfer belt.
