A Day in the Life
As a Meal Loader Operator in Altona, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Safety & Compliance First:
- Adhere strictly to all Bunge safety rules, procedures, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) to maintain a secure working environment for yourself and your team.
- Maintain full knowledge and compliance with all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Meal Loadout and Rail Yard operations.
- Efficient Meal Loading & Logistics:
- Execute precise meal loading into rail cars and trucks.
- Inspect each rail car and truck thoroughly to ensure product integrity and safety, rejecting any that do not meet our standards.
- Accurately complete inspection forms and verify correct product identification on all cars.
- Proficiently utilize systems such as GTM, SAP, and One Weigh for tracking and inventory management.
- Quality Assurance & Inventory Management:
- Collect and record representative samples for laboratory analysis from each load.
- Perform post-loading checks on rail cars to ensure no leaks and complete all required documentation, including the "affidavit of Loading".
- Monitor storage tank levels proactively to prevent overflows and assist with inventory checks.
- Housekeeping & Maintenance:
- Maintain high standards of general operating and housekeeping duties in the meal area and the broader Crush Department.
- Inspect and clean dust collecting systems regularly to ensure optimal function.
- Perform minor equipment maintenance when time permits or as directed by supervision.
- Team Collaboration & Professionalism:
- Work cooperatively with other operators to maintain the meal room, meal storage, and loading areas in excellent, safe operating condition.
- Actively participate in shared cleanup duties with your team.
- Be punctual for all shifts and prepared to stay until properly relieved by the next operator.
- Uphold a positive image of Bunge to the public, demonstrating friendliness, honesty, and integrity, with a strong customer and farmer focus.
- Continuously update knowledge through all in-house and online training programs.
- Be flexible and perform any other related duties as required or requested by Crush Management.
Position Details
- This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday.
- The work schedule is 40 hours per week, typically from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
- A half‑hour unpaid lunch break is provided.
- Pay Rate: $27.41 per hour

What We’re Looking For / Qualifications & Skills
- Education & Experience:
- Grade 12 education or equivalent.
- An agricultural background is considered a significant asset.
- Technical & Mechanical Aptitude:
- Proven working knowledge of industrial equipment.
- Good mechanical aptitude.
- Proficient computer and keyboard skills, including familiarity with systems like GTM, SAP, and One Weigh.
- Essential Skills & Attributes:
- Exceptional commitment to safety, full knowledge of and compliance with all safety policies, procedures, GMPs, and SOPs.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Demonstrated reliability in carrying out duties and following instructions.
- Proactive initiative and the ability to perform effectively with minimal supervision.
- A positive attitude towards duties and supervisors.
- Ability to effectively cooperate with other employees.
- Strong commitment to maintaining high housekeeping standards.
- Ability to train newly hired operators.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to consistently lift up to 22.7 kg (50 lbs).
- Comfortable working from heights, climbing ladders, and safely performing tasks in confined spaces.
