A leading academic institution in Ottawa is seeking a Max Wyman Assistant Professor in Mathematics to establish a research program and develop a teaching portfolio. The position is a 3-year fixed-term appointment starting July 1, 2026, requiring a PhD in mathematics and a commitment to teaching. Max Wyman Assistant Professor in Mathematics. The Department of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences at the University of Alberta invites applications for a Max Wyman Assistant Professorship in any area of pure and applied mathematics. The position is a 3-year fixed-term appointment, with a start date of July 1, 2026.
The successful candidate will be able to apply for grant funding, establish a research program in an excellent research environment, and develop a teaching portfolio with a teaching load of 2 courses per year.
Applicants must have a PhD in pure or applied mathematics (or equivalent), demonstrated accomplishments and outstanding promise in research in any area of pure or applied mathematics, as well as a strong commitment to graduate and undergraduate teaching. Research that enhances existing research groups in the Department will be considered an asset.
Applications will be reviewed beginning November 24, 2025, and the competition will remain open until January 10, 2026.
