A leading educational service provider is seeking a part-time upper level math teacher in Langley, BC. The ideal candidate will teach small groups of students in subjects including Algebra to Calculus. Strong communication skills and a Bachelor's Degree in Education or a related field are required. This position offers flexible teaching hours from Monday to Friday.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or in progress required.
• Strong knowledge in algebra, geometry, calculus, and trigonometry.
• Preferred tutoring experience.

Overview

Sylvan Learning is the industry leader in providing supplemental education to children in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade.

We are currently looking for upper level math teachers. As a part-time Sylvan Instructor, you will be trained on the Sylvan curriculum and given the tools to teach in a small group, 3:1 setting. Students of all levels will need assistance on material ranging from Algebra to Calculus.

Responsibilities

• Teach using Sylvan based programs
• Assist with Math Homework & Assignments
• Supervise, interact with and motivate students
• Reward students for completed assignments
• Evaluate and document student progress
• Communicate student needs to the center director
• Develop rapport with students and establish a fun learning environment

Hours of Instruction

• Monday - Thursday 2:30 - 7:30 pm
• Friday 2:30 - 5:30 pm

Requirements

• A Bachelor's Degree or currently working on a Bachelors
• Advanced knowledge and familiarity with teaching calculus, algebra 1 & 2, geometry and trigonometry
• Tutoring experience preferred
• Strong communication skills and the ability to multi-task
