Job summary

A regional arts academy in Burlington is seeking an experienced teacher to develop and deliver engaging lesson plans for high school mathematics, physics, or computer science. This role requires excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of the Ontario Curriculum, and the ability to foster an inclusive classroom environment. Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field and have proven teaching experience.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience teaching mathematics, physics or computer science at the secondary school level.
  • Strong understanding of the Ontario Curriculum for Grades 8 to 12 Math, Physics and Science.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver lesson plans in mathematics, physics or computer science.
  • Teach Grades 9 to 12 in accordance with the Ontario Curriculum.
  • Assess and evaluate students' progress and complete report cards.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment.

Job description
Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver comprehensive lesson plans in mathematics, physics or computer science including tests, quizzes, and reference material for use in class for students learning in accordance with the Ministry of Education Guidelines.
  • Teach the assigned course for Grades 9 to 12 in accordance with the Ministry of Education Ontario Curriculum and guidelines.
  • Assess and evaluate students' progress and complete report cards.
  • Maintain and update course outlines as necessary and supervise exams as scheduled.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and school administration to enhance the educational experience.
  • Organize and participate in math, physics or computer science competitions or workshops.
  • To complete any additional duties assigned by the principal.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in mathematics, physics, computer science or related fields.
  • Proven experience teaching mathematics, physics or computer science at the secondary school level.
  • Strong understanding of the Ontario Curriculum for Grades 8 to 12 Math, Physics and Science.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to suit diverse student needs.
  • Proficient computer skills.
