Job summary

A leading education provider in Surrey is seeking passionate upper level math teachers. As a part-time instructor, you'll provide personalized instruction in Math and Physics in a small group setting. Responsibilities include teaching, supervising, and motivating students as well as evaluating their progress. A Bachelor's Degree and strong communication skills are required for this role. Competitive pay of $18-$19/hour based on experience.

Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge of math topics 10 to 12, including pre-calculus and AP Calculus.
  • Ability to teach grade 11 and 12 Chemistry and Physics.
  • 2 years teaching or tutoring experience preferred.

We are currently looking for upper level math teachers. As a part-time Sylvan Instructor, you will be trained on the Sylvan curriculum and provided with the tools to teach in a small group, 3:1 setting. You will provide personalized instruction in Math and Physics, and, if possible, Chemistry and Biology. Students range in levels from Algebra to Calculus. Evening and weekend hours are available. Responsibilities
  • Teach using Sylvan-based programs
  • Supervise, interact with and motivate students during instruction hours while they work with equipment and materials
  • Reward students for completed assignments
  • Evaluate and document student progress
  • Communicate student needs to the center director
  • Inspire students
  • Develop rapport with students and establish a fun learning environment
  • Maintain a positive attitude and demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching and Sylvan
Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's Degree is required
  • Advanced knowledge and familiarity with teaching or tutoring in the areas of math 10 to 12, including pre-calculus and AP Calculus
  • Ability to teach grade 11 and 12 Chemistry and Physics
  • 2 years teaching or tutoring experience preferred
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to multi-task
