Job summary

NSG/Pilkington is seeking a manufacturing supervisor to lead the materials production area, oversee scheduling, logistics and inventory control, and ensure timely procurement of materials at the lowest possible cost without compromising quality or customer service.

The person will define long-term production and inventory plans, build strong internal and external relationships, and drive 5S housekeeping and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • 4 year degree in Business Management or related field.
  • 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • 2 years experience in a supervisory role.
  • Demonstrated ability in solving problems related to manufacturing processes.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills and must be an effective communicator.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and organize objectives and targets to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Take a leadership role in promoting product quality, employee development, and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Supervise the materials production area, scheduling, logistics / customer service and inventory control functions, ensuring that materials and services are procured in a timely manner at the lowest possible prices without impacting quality, performance, or customer service.
  • Implement and maintain effective controls for all areas of responsibility.
  • Provides long-term production and inventory plans that ensure optimal utilization of capacity and assets.
  • Establish and maintain effective internal and external customer relationships
  • Identify and implement cost reduction/ avoidance opportunities.
  • Manage the flow of raw packaging materials and supplies coming into the facility and the processes and systems to efficiently manage the material flow.
  • Manage departmental expenses to meet budget. Work with department employee to create cost reduction projects.
  • Establish and maintain 5S system. Work with supervisors and hourly employees to ensure plant housekeeping meets or exceeds standards.
  • Other Duties as assigned.
