Role Overview

As a Materials Planner for the manufacturing site, you will be responsible for planning purchased components from external suppliers to ensure an adequate material stream to meet customer demand and inventory goals. You will act as a pivot point between the Demand Leaders, Production, Warehouse, and Sales teams to plan and prioritize incoming material based on changing demand requirements or supplier capacity. This is a cross‑functional role that utilizes functional expertise, analytical thinking, and the ability to adapt and prioritize quickly.

  • Help define and execute a "plan for every part" strategy, including economic order quantities, lead times, reorder points, or other planning parameters among all Waukesha inventory organizations to optimize inventory and customer on‑time delivery.
  • Balance inventory among all organizations. Determine if parts need to be ordered from a supplier or if inventory can be shifted between locations to satisfy demand.
  • Work cross‑functionally with sourcing functions to ensure parts with upcoming demands are sourced in a timely manner to meet production/service needs.
  • Request for Quote (RFQ) from suppliers for First Part Qualification (FPQ) and collaborate with the Quality team on the approval process.
  • Act as a pivot point between Demand Leaders, Production, Warehouse, Sales, and Logistics to help prioritize incoming material based on changing demand requirements or supplier capacity. Make trade‑off decisions as required.
  • Work closely with Material Planning Managers to roll up inventory estimates, establish operating plans, and implement optimization projects.
  • Collaborate with the scheduler for shortage resolution and determine root cause and preventative planning actions.
  • Support phase‑in/phase‑out and new product introductions. Close interaction with product management, engineering, sourcing, and other functions to execute flawlessly.
  • Analyze inventory levels and usage patterns to determine and implement opportunities to improve KPIs.
  • Lead and/or participate in process improvement projects.
  • Work with Sourcing and SIOP to define make/buy strategy based on full‑cost models.
Qualifications / Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college, or a diploma with a supply‑chain focus or related field, or seven or more years of comparable industry experience.
  • Two or more years of direct experience working with Material Requirements Planning modules (Oracle ERP/ASCP preferred).
  • Direct experience working in a manufacturing or shop‑floor environment.
  • Must be a collaborative team player, willing to take ownership of decisions and be a results‑oriented self‑starter.

  • Consistent track record of meeting or exceeding key performance objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, assess, prioritize tasks, risks, resources, milestones, and deliverables with frequently changing priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi‑task and coordinate several projects simultaneously.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
