Job summary

Motion Industries in Canada seeks a Material Handler to support shipping, receiving and order fulfillment. The role involves lifting heavy items, forklift operation, and maintaining organized stock areas.

The candidate should be able to follow written and oral instructions, work well in a team, and perform basic data entry in the warehouse system. Valid forklift certification and a driver’s license are preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required and some related experience preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced warehouse with a team.
  • Basic computer skills and arithmetic abilities are required.
  • Forklift certification and hazardous material handling knowledge are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Unload and direct movement of shipments from shipping/receiving to storage/work areas.
  • Verify and record shipments in the Warehouse Management System for accuracy.
  • Assemble items into order picking containers for outgoing shipments.
  • Prepare packing slips, shipping labels, bills of lading and documents.
  • Keep warehouse areas clean, orderly, and maintained.
  • Replenish stock from reserve locations as needed; operate a forklift.
  • May perform driving duties and other duties as assigned.

SUMMARYUnder close supervision, the Material Handler performs physical and administrative tasks related to material handling such as shipping, receiving, order fulfillment, returns, and storage. This position lifts heavy items and operates a forklift.JOB DUTIESUnloads and directs movement of shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage and work areas.Verifies and records incoming and outgoing shipments within the Warehouse Management System to ensure shipments include correct product, quality, and quantity.Gathers, verifies, and places items into order picking container for outgoing shipments.Prepares packing slips, shipping labels, bills of lading, and other required documents.Ensures warehouse work areas and equipment are clean, orderly, and properly maintained.Replenishes primary stock shelves from reserve stock locations as needed.Operates a forklift.Works after hours as needed.May perform driving duties.Performs other duties as assigned.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCETypically requires a high school diploma or GED and zero (0) to two (2) years of related experience or an equivalent combination.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIESAbility to work as a team in a fast-paced environment.Possess the ability to comprehend and carry-out instructions provided in oral, written, and diagram format.Basic computer skills, including information processing required.Ability to perform basic mathematical functions in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.PHYSICAL DEMANDSAbility to regularly stand, walk, talk, hear, and lift occasionally sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, or crawl. Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 150 pounds, with assistance as necessary.LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONSCertified to operate a forklift. Valid driver’s license.
