Ledcor Marine in British Columbia is seeking an experienced Mate to join our coastal tug fleet. You will oversee deck crew, supervise operations, and actively contribute to safety and navigation on challenging river and coastal routes.

Requirements include 3–5 years at sea on a coastal tug, minimum Chief Mate 150 GT or Chief Mate 500 GT Domestic CoC, Transport Canada Medical, and First Aid certification. You will stand watch under the Master and follow Ledcor safety standards daily.

Formación

• Minimum Chief Mate 150 GT or Chief Mate 500 GT Domestic CoC.
• 3–5 years sea service on a coastal tug with prior Mate experience.
• Transport Canada Marine Medical Certificate.
• Basic Marine First Aid or Marine Advanced First Aid.
• Tug/barge handling skills including tandem towing experience.
• Voyage planning and Fraser River/bridge transits knowledge.
• Strong supervisory and leadership ability with good interpersonal skills.
• Ability to meet pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.

Ledcor Marine is growing and are looking for experienced Mates to join our Marine division! This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-respected, large marine operation.

Essential Responsibilities

• Oversees deck crew and provide training on deck operations and gear work
• Maintains safety equipment and deck gear
• Manages Safety Management System under direct supervision of Master
• Stands Navigation watch
• Promotes safety as per Ledcor standards

Qualifications

• Must have a minimum Chief Mate 150 GT, or Chief Mate 500 GT Domestic Certificate of Competency
• 3 to 5 years' sea service on a Coastal Tug, with prior Mate experience
• Transport Canada Marine Medical Certificate
• Basic Marine First Aid or Marine Advanced First Aid
• Basic tug/barge handling skills including tandem towing experience
• Voyage planning and knowledge of Fraser River, Bridge transits, and Coastal Navigation.
• Excellent supervisory and leadership ability, with strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to meet Pre-Employment Drug & Alcohol testing requirements

Work Conditions

• Scheduled shift rotation by seniority, with a requirement to be available for work when not achieving target hours. Various shift schedules may be applied per the Collective Agreement and schedule rotations are subject to change based on Operational requirements.
• Working outdoors in various weather conditions
• Employees will be hired under the Ledcor Resources & Transportation Collective Agreement, which is represented by CLAC, Local 66

Compensation

$56.42 per hour

This is the expected base pay range for this role. Individual base pay will be determined based on a variety of factors including experience, knowledge, skills, education and location.
