Job description

As per MSU employment policies - "Only MSU members in good standing shall be eligible for part-time employment with McMaster Student Union." This includes, but is not limited to- "All undergraduate students at McMaster University enrolled in 18 units or more during an academic session.." Contract term was May 1 - April 30th

The Maroons are a unique MSU service that works to connect the undergraduate student population to the McMaster Students Union and the rest of the McMaster community. As representatives of the MSU, we provide students with information, opportunities and resources to get involved with the various services and business within the MSU. We aim to be the carriers of Marauder spirit on campus, and within the community, through the promotion and organization of countless events to express school pride and unity.

General Scope of Duties

The Maroons Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the activities of the Maroons are executed. Known as “The Spirit Squad” on campus, the Maroons Coordinator is responsible for fostering an active and engaging community of reps and promoting different aspects of the McMaster Students Union and McMaster University as a whole. The Maroons Coordinator plays an active role in Welcome Week planning and programming through collaborations with MSU Campus Events, Housing and Conference Services, Student Success Centre, and other prominent campus partners.

Working Conditions
  • Time will be spent outdoors performing physical activity and chanting
  • Time demands may exceed stated hours of work
  • Work is performed in a hybrid environment (i.e., both in-person and virtually)
Training and Experience
  • Previous experience leading spirit activities (e.g., Residence, Faculty Societies, etc.) is an asset
  • Previous involvement with the Maroons is an asset
  • Experience in a managerial role is an asset
  • Participation in the annual MSU Management Trainings required (provided)
