Job Summary

Reporting to the Team Lead, Market Research, you will join a highly motivated team of commercial real estate professionals responsible for producing and maintaining market-leading commercial real estate data for Altus Group. As a Market Analyst, you will play a key role in the collection, verification, analysis, and publication of commercial real estate transaction, listing, and development data across the Ottawa region. Your research will support Altus Data Solutions, RealNet, Data Studio, market reports, newsletters, and client insights used by investors, lenders, developers, brokers, and other industry stakeholders across Canada. This role offers a unique opportunity to develop deep expertise in commercial real estate while building a strong professional network within the industry. You will interact directly with brokers, property owners, developers, investors, planners, and other market participants to gather and verify information that is critical to maintaining the industry's most trusted data platform. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct research on commercial property sales, leasing activity, development projects, and listings throughout the Ottawa region.
• Investigate transactions using online research, industry databases, land registry records, municipal planning resources, and direct outreach.
• Verify market intelligence through telephone interviews and relationship-building with industry participants.
• Monitor brokerage reports, news sources, planning applications, and development approvals for emerging market activity.
• Perform site visits and field research to collect property and market information as required.
• Utilize AI-powered research tools to support data collection, trend identification, information validation, and research efficiency while maintaining high-quality standards.
• Leverage AI-assisted workflows to synthesize information from multiple sources, identify data gaps, and support transaction and market research.

Data Analysis & Quality Assurance

• Analyze transaction and property data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
• Classify commercial real estate assets by property type, investment profile, and development stage.
• Prepare transaction summaries and supporting research documentation.
• Participate in data quality audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain high standards of data integrity while meeting production deadlines.
• Utilize analytics and AI-enabled tools to support data validation, quality assurance, and market analysis.
• Apply critical thinking and professional judgment to validate information and ensure the reliability of published data.

Industry Engagement

• Build and maintain relationships with brokers, developers, investors, planners, property managers, and other industry stakeholders.
• Conduct professional outreach and cold calling to validate information and gather market intelligence.
• Attend industry events, conferences, networking functions, and property tours.
• Represent Altus Group professionally within the Ottawa commercial real estate community.

Content & Market Intelligence

• Contribute to newsletters, market reports, publications, and client-facing research products.
• Support the development of market insights and trend analysis across office, industrial, retail, multifamily, and land asset classes.
• Identify significant transactions, developments, and emerging market trends for publication.

Technology & Innovation

• Utilize internal databases, GIS tools, CRM platforms, and research technologies to improve efficiency and accuracy.
• Leverage Microsoft Copilot, AI-powered research tools, and emerging technologies to streamline research and enhance analytical workflows.
• Develop effective research and prompting techniques that improve the quality, speed, and consistency of data collection and analysis.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on automation, AI adoption, and workflow optimization.
• Stay informed about technological advancements and emerging trends impacting commercial real estate and market intelligence.

Key Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Real Estate, Urban Planning, Geography, Business, Economics, Finance, or a related field.
• 1-3 years of experience in commercial real estate, market research, market intelligence, data analysis, appraisal, brokerage support, or a related field.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high degree of accuracy.
• Comfortable conducting research by phone and building relationships with industry professionals.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and online research tools.
• Curiosity about emerging technologies and a willingness to leverage AI tools to enhance research, analysis, and productivity.
• Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.
