Environment & Risk Manager

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to operationalexcellence, environmental compliance, and risk management across our fleet andterminals.

We are seeking an experienced Environment & Risk Managerwho is responsible for ensuring environmental stewardship and regulatorycompliance while managing overall company risk and ensuring operational andemergency response readiness. As a key member of the management team, drivesthe development and implementation of environmental policies and procedureswithin the company’s management system. Supports the ongoing maintenance andcontinuous improvement of the organization’s emergency preparedness and crisismanagement plans.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and monitor company-wideenvironmental policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with domestic and internationalenvironmental regulations.
  • Oversee emissions, waste, ballast management, andreporting (e.g., CII, SEEMP3).
  • Lead Green Marine program initiatives and manageenvironmental audits.
  • Develop, maintain, and implement operational andemergency response plans.
  • Lead the Integrated Command System (ICS) and First NoticeOperations (FNO) programs.
  • Chair the Drill Committee and coordinate emergencypreparedness exercises.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and regulatoryauthorities to support environmental and risk initiatives.
  • Provide leadership in compliance, training, andcontinuous improvement programs.
  • Assist Engineering in strategic planning anddecision-making related to environmental and operational risk.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, engineering,or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • At least five years of experience in environmentalmanagement, preferably in the maritime or transportation industry.
  • Knowledge of marine environmental regulations, ISO14001,and risk management frameworks.
  • Risk and emergency management experience, education, andtraining a strong asset.
  • Strong technical writing, analytical, organizational, andproject management skills.
  • Leadership experience and ability to work independentlywith minimal supervision.
  • Ability to manage committees and large groups on callsand meetings. Strong communicationskills
  • Flexibility to travel and work outside regular hours,including overnight travel.

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily office-based, with routine visits to vessels,terminals, and docks across the Maritimes.
  • Occasional weekend or evening work and overnight travelrequired.
  • Ability to access all areas of ships and terminals,including ladders and tanks.
