Job summary

A leading risk management firm in Canada is seeking a Cargo Inspector to assess cargo damaged in transit. You will oversee the loading and unloading of cargo and inspect damaged ships to evaluate the extent and cause of damages. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree and five years of related experience. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to a critical aspect of the logistics process in a collaborative work environment.

Job description
PRIMARY PURPOSE

: To inspect cargo damaged in transit and determine the nature, cause, and extent of damages; to review documents to determine when the cargo was damaged; and to provide written reports to underwriters and other parties with his/her qualified opinion as to the cause of loss.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversees loading and unloading of cargo from ships and other forms of transit to document damages as they are loaded and/or unloaded.
  • Inspects damaged ships to determine cause of the damage and amount of damage resulting from collisions or motor failures.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Supports the organization's quality program(s).
  • Travels as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Licensing

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred.

Experience

Five (5) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
