Position Overview

Marine Superintendents at Kiewit play a pivotal role in the successful execution of our marine and heavy civil projects. You will oversee field operations, ensuring that projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with Kiewit's high standards of quality. This position requires excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills to manage crews effectively and maintain positive relationships with clients, subcontractors, and project teams.

Location

This position will support construction of a project located in Squamish, BC. Rotational travel to the site is required.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the organization, scheduling, and execution of marine construction activities, ensuring adherence to project plans, specifications, and timelines.
  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture by implementing and monitoring safety policies and procedures, conducting regular safety meetings, and ensuring compliance with all safety regulations.
  • Ensure all work meets or exceeds quality standards, conducting inspections, and coordinating with quality assurance teams to address any issues promptly.
  • Monitor project budgets, control costs, and implement strategies to achieve financial objectives. Review and approve expenditures, manage resources efficiently, and participate in financial forecasting.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop foremen, journeymen, and laborers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors. Attend meetings to address concerns, provide updates, and ensure client satisfaction.
  • Maintain accurate records, including daily logs, progress reports, and documentation of any changes to the scope of work. Ensure all performance evaluations are completed in a timely manner for direct reports.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 8+ years of experience in marine and heavy civil construction, with a proven track record in a supervisory role.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Strong understanding of marine construction methods, equipment, and materials. Proficiency in reading blueprints, specifications, and project schedules.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage teams effectively, with strong decision‑making and problem‑solving capabilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders.
  • In‑depth knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in construction. Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.

Compensation & Benefits

Base Compensation: $150,000 - $158,000

  • Actual total compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, assigned project, and/or location, and may be above or below this range.
