The results of the process will be used to create a pool of qualified candidates and partially qualified candidates that may be used to staff similar positions of various tenures within the Canadian Coast Guard and other government departments.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications).
Stream 1 (SO MAO 10): Valid Transport Canada STCW Certificate of Competency, 1st Class Engineer Motor Ship.
Stream 2 (SO MAO 08 / 09): Valid Transport Canada STCW Certificate of Competency, 2nd Class Engineer Motor Ship or higher.
Stream 3 (MAO 07): Valid Transport Canada STCW Certificate of Competency, 2nd Class Engineer Motor Ship or higher.
If you are found fully qualified in stream 2 or 3, you will be considered partially-qualified in the remaining streams until such time you meet the certification and experience requirements to be fully qualified, as long as the statement of merit for the pool is still valid and reflects the duties of the position and needs of the organization.
