Job summary

Apotex Inc. in Canada seeks a Scientist MST-TSS to coordinate, plan and execute projects supporting PLCM and NSQ, supervise technical support for new and current formulations and processes, and ensure GMP and SOP compliance.

This role requires eight years in pharma, strong English communication, and the ability to lead multiple projects in a fast-paced environment; the successful candidate will contribute to product development, technology transfer and manufacturing support.

Qualifications

  • College/university degree in a relevant science field (Chemistry, Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Technology, Chemical Engineering, or related).
  • Strong written and spoken English and excellent documentation skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of pharmaceutical processes and equipment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and ability to work independently.
  • Experience with GMP, SOPs, and quality systems in pharma manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, plan and execute projects supporting PLCM and NSQ initiatives.
  • Supervise technical support for new formulations, processes and launch batches.
  • Monitor manufacturing activities and provide technical support as needed.
  • Lead investigations for out-of-spec results and drive root-cause analysis.
  • Prepare project summaries, updates and recommendations.
  • Work safely and collaborate with teams to meet objectives.

Job Summary

The Scientist MST-TSS is responsible to coordinate, plan and execute projects to support all activities required as per PLCM and NSQ projects. Responsible for the supervision of and providing assistance with technical support projects for the improvement of new and current product formulations and processes, launch and demonstration batches. Ensures that all operations are performed in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Safe Work Practices (SWP), and all company policies.

Job Responsibilities
  • Develops & updates project timelines for projects and project planning by tracking project report and balancing project plans for PLCM and NSQprojects.
  • Communicate directly with all levels of the organization and with external contacts to ensure optimum communications and coordination of all projects.
  • Monitors and supervises the manufacture of products, as required, to provide technical support.
  • Support projects for new equipment qualification related to commercial product.
  • Investigates formulation and process deficiencies for current products being manufactured in order to determine the causes and to recommend and implement solutions for improvement.
  • Initiate and conduct the investigation for all out of specification results and product manufacturing chronic issues. Utilizes advance problem solving techniques and tools to identify root causes and determine course of action.
  • Writes project summaries, project updates, and provides recommendations, as required.
  • Works in a safe manner collaborating as a team member to achieve all outcomes.

Job Requirements

Education

  • College/University degree in Chemistry, Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Technology, Chemical Engineering or related science.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Extensive knowledge and experience in pharmaceutical processes and equipment.
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Excellent organization, troubleshooting and report writing skills.
  • Intermediate to Advanced level of computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • Strong planning and organizational skills, ability to work independently and manage priorities.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Experience

  • Minimum of eight years successful working experience in the pharmaceutical industry with related experience in formulations development of liquid dosage forms, scale up and/or technology transfer.

The hiring range for this position is $ 83,126.43 - $ 116,377.00 CAD per year. The final agreed-upon salary may vary based on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experience.
