About the Role
The Manufacturing Project Engineer is responsible for leading the launch of a new product family of machined components used in large industrial gas engines. This involves developing the manufacturing process for deployment within existing machining centers, designing, selecting and sourcing related tooling and fixturing, CNC programming, FPQ & PLQ validation and the development of all related manufacturing documentation.
This position requires hands‑on technical direction and involves complex production challenges while driving simultaneous process improvements to deliver high‑quality, cost‑effective products in a safe manufacturing environment. Subsequent responsibility will also involve acting as a liaison/resource between the Welland, Ontario facility and the Waukesha, Wisconsin facility that will launch the same product in the near future.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with colleagues in our European sister facility, the primary product producers, to develop a successful launch plan.
- Optimize and implement CNC machine programs using CAD/CAM software into existing CNC equipment.
- Develop, source, implement and document required fixtures, tooling and ergonomic lifting/manipulating equipment.
- Collaborate with Production Manufacturing Engineers to develop a robust execution strategy and coordinate with the Operations team to minimize disruption to ongoing production.
- Develop Oracle‑based ERP process routings including resource allocation and cycle‑time validation.
- Manage and maintain the project budget and timeline with regular report‑outs to senior management.
- Contribute to the development and optimization of standardized work instructions used by technicians on the shop floor.
- Interface with external vendors and internal colleagues for sourcing of fixtures, tooling and raw materials.
- Assist with the future launch at the Wisconsin facility by sharing technical knowledge and lessons learned from the Welland launch experience and act as a secondary resource during subsequent launch activities at that location.
- Promote and sustain 6S/Lean Manufacturing standards in the workplace.
- Identify opportunities for automation implementation and AI adoption to further enhance manufacturing process efficiency.
Qualifications / Requirements
