Job summary

Pratt & Whitney Canada is seeking a Manufacturing Line Manager for our Halifax/Enfield site. You will lead a production line with a large team, drive safety, quality, and continuous improvement, and partner with multiple departments to meet priorities.

The role requires 7–10+ years in manufacturing and a strong background in production planning, scheduling, and leadership. On-site, with up to 10% travel and a focus on operational excellence.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field; equivalent combination considered.
  • 7–10+ years in manufacturing with increasing leadership responsibility.
  • 5+ years leading supervisors or first-level managers.
  • Experience managing production schedules, capacity, and resources.

Why join our team?

Reporting to the General Manager, the Manufacturing Line Manager will manage one of three product lines manufactured at the Halifax facility. They will be responsible for a production team of approximately 80 individuals, including 4 supervisors, and will oversee a team of first-level managers. The candidate will be responsible for the overall management of production for one production line and will collaborate with service departments to meet priorities.

The role requires working in a dynamic, high-performance environment and demonstrating adaptability. Current challenges include developing production capacity plans, managing various teams, and supporting the introduction of new products, all of which fall within the candidate’s responsibilities.

The position is based at our Enfield location, from Monday to Friday, and exclusively on-site.

What will your day-to-day look like?

Lead daily production operations by ensuring production stays on schedule and the line operates safely, efficiently, and within our Quality Management System.

Establish production goals in alignment with company Operations and coordinate plans to achieve those goals.

Drive accountability to daily results by fostering a culture of high performance, engagement, and dependability.

Monitor performance, address issues promptly, and implement rapid corrective actions to overcome misses.

Lead and manage a leadership team by providing coaching, development, and actionable feedback.

Manage team performance, resolve conflicts, and build a strong, engaged team focused on operational effectiveness.

Champion safety, quality, and continuous improvement programs (CORE) across the manufacturing area.

Ensure workers and equipment meet performance and safety requirements, maintain a world-class safety culture, and respond promptly to all site EH&S requirements.

Drive continuous improvement through disciplined execution of the daily Lean Management System, including tiered accountability meetings, visual management systems, and leader standard work.

Prepare and lead initiatives that support the achievement of goals and improve operational performance, acting as a change agent for the facility.

Support workforce planning and development by forecasting resource needs and anticipating business demand to ensure appropriate staffing levels.

Ensure proper training for all production personnel and actively promote an ethics-based business culture.

Drive alignment across functional teams, suppliers, and customers to support business objectives and continuous improvement efforts.

Collaborate across the organization to identify priorities, resolve challenges, and support the overall success of the site.

Engage in broader site leadership by participating in decisions affecting the broader population and contributing to the overall success of the manufacturing operation.

Travel as needed, with the position requiring limited travel of up to 10%.

What you need to be successful:
Must haves:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Equivalent combination of education, technical training, and relevant manufacturing experience may be considered.
  • 7–10+ years of progressive experience in a manufacturing environment, with increasing responsibility in production or operations leadership, including experience in machining, assembly, testing, quality, or a similar manufacturing environment.
  • 5+ years of experience leading supervisors or other first-level managers.
  • Proven experience managing production schedules, capacity planning, resource requirements, and operational performance.
  • Ability to lead, coach, develop, and hold supervisors and employees accountable for performance.
  • Strong understanding of production planning, scheduling, capacity, productivity, and operational metrics.
  • Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and ability to establish and maintain a strong safety culture.
  • Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills, with the ability to make timely decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and build strong relationships with employees at all levels, leadership, internal and external customers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience working with ERP/MRP or manufacturing management systems.
  • Ability to lead teams through organizational, process, and product changes while maintaining engagement and performance.
  • Understanding of how manufacturing performance impacts broader business objectives, including cost, delivery, quality, capacity, and customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to use production metrics and operational data to identify trends, prioritize actions, and drive results.
