Job summary

L3Harris Waterdown in Ontario is offering a 16-month Manufacturing Engineering Co-op in Systems starting May 2026. You will work under the Manager and the Senior Operations Engineer Lead, collaborating with Operations Engineering, Engineering and Production teams to explain and interpret technical information and recommend solutions.

You will contribute to system and process changes, work to achieve operational targets, and suggest solutions for review.

Qualifications

• Solid modeling CAD experience, SolidWorks preferred.
• Self-motivated, organized, detail-oriented.
• Strong technical communication, both written and verbal.
• Mechanical aptitude with hands-on skills.
• Able to read and understand mechanical drawings.
• Able to manage multiple priorities in a project-based environment.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Lead and participate in Mechanical Engineering projects within Operations.
• Provide mechanical design analysis and testing support for new and existing products and build processes.
• Participate in design reviews and support verification and validation of new designs.
• Work with the Mechanical Frontline ME team to resolve issues and develop new processes.
• Capture and analyze data related to estimating accuracy and shop floor cycle times.
• Create and maintain Manufacturing Assembly Procedures (MAPs) and related documentation.
• Support changes to service procedures, Work Instructions and MES authoring.

About the Role

This is a 16 month co-op term to begin May 2026. Working under the general direction and guidance of your Manager and the Senior Operations Engineer Lead, you be collaborating with contacts on Operations Engineering, Engineering and Production teams to explain and interpret technical information and recommend solutions. You will be contributing to system and process changes and work to achieve operational targets that impact team results. You will also be expected to recommend solutions to problems for others to review.

Primary Responsibilities

• Lead and participate in assigned projects related to Mechanical Engineering activities within Operations – projects will be of moderate scope and complexity assigned by the Operations Engineering Department

• Provide mechanical design analysis, and testing support for new and existing products and associated build processes.

• Participate in design reviews and support the verification and validation of new product designs and build process.

• Work in partnership with the Mechanical Frontline ME team as required resolving operational technical issues and the development of new systems processes

• Use a variety of standard engineering methods and defined best practices in solving problems and executing tasks.

• Capture and analyze data related to estimating accuracy and cycle times related to shop floor throughput.

• Responsible for creating and maintaining Manufacturing Assembly Procedures (MAPs)

• Support documentation changes, including service procedures, Work Instructions and Manufacturing Execution System (MES) authoring.

• May contribute to definition of departmental best practices of a clearly defined scope.

• Reviewing change requests generated by engineering and mechanical staff, and implement changes as required.

• Responsible for the timely completion of tasks

• Support any other business priorities as required by Operations Engineering leadership.

Required Capabilities

• Some experience with a solid modeling CAD package, SolidWorks preferred.

• A highly motivated, self-starter.

• Must be well organized, goal oriented and able to give attention to detail

• Strong technical communication skills both verbal and written

• Mechanical aptitude, good hands-on skills.

• Some mechanical design skills shown through practical course work or experience.

• Good mathematical and analysis skills.

• Proficient in use of Microsoft Office products.

• Familiar with Electro-Mechanical Manufacturing Processes

• Able to read and understand Mechanical drawings

• Ability to manage multiple priorities within a Project-based environment

• Able to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams across the organization

Desired Education and Experiences

• Enrollment in University Mechanical Engineering program

• Must be able to complete a 16 month Co-Op term starting May 2026

• Currently enrolled and in good standing with co-op program through accredited university

• Able to obtain Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP) clearance
