Job summary

Adamson Systems Engineering in Canada is seeking a seasoned Manufacturing Engineer to lead continuous improvement and shop floor optimization. You will analyze production flows, design tooling and fixtures, and partner with R&D to scale New Product Introductions while reducing cycle times.

The role requires a Bachelor's (Masters preferred) in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering, 5+ years on the shop floor, and fluency with SolidWorks or AutoCAD and ERP/MRP systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering; Masters preferred.
  • 5+ years of shop floor experience required.
  • Proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks or AutoCAD) and ERP/MRP systems.

Responsibilities

  • Process Optimization: Streamlining workflows and programming to cut down production cycle times.
  • Tooling & Fixture Design: Creating custom jigs, assembly fixtures, or robotic cell layouts using 3D CAD software.
  • New Product Introduction (NPI): Cooperating with R&D teams to transition from the solid model to repeatable manufactured product.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Troubleshooting product quality failures, production floor bottlenecks, machine defects, scrapped production, and equipment downtime.
  • Documentation: Authoring SOPs, process routings, and managing Bills of Materials (BOMs).

Key Responsibilities

The day-to-day duties generally focus on continuous improvement, machinery management, and data tracking:

  • Process Optimization: Streamlining workflows and programming to cut down production cycle times.
  • Tooling & Fixture Design: Creating custom jigs, assembly fixtures, or robotic cell layouts using 3D CAD software.
  • New Product Introduction (NPI): Cooperating with R&D teams to transition from the solid model to repeatable manufactured product.

  • Documentation: Authoring standard operating procedures (SOPs), process routings, and managing Bills of Materials (BOMs).
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Education: A Bachelor's degree (preference shown for Masters) in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Experience: 5+ years of shop floor experience required.
  • Software App Competence: Proficiency in CAD systems like SolidWorks or AutoCAD, alongside ERP/MRP business systems.
  • Methodologies: Strong familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5S, and formal problem-solving like 8D analysis.
  • Regulations: Employment Standards Act (ESA), Ontario Health and Safety Act (OHSA), Environmental Protection Act (EPA), PEO
Technical Skills
  • Total Quality Management: Understanding of TQM applications in discrete manufacturing
