Job Summary

We are seeking a hands‑on, detail‑oriented Manufacturing Engineer to join our dynamic production and engineering team. In this role, you'll coordinate across customers, vendors, and internal departments to deliver projects on time—while supporting the practical aspects of designing, building, and assembling custom LED lighting products. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced environment, enjoys solving technical problems, and can communicate clearly with people from all disciplines. You’ll be involved in product design feedback, manufacturing process optimization, and continuous improvement efforts—helping shape how we deliver lighting systems for retail, commercial, and architectural applications.

What You’ll Be Doing – Core Responsibilities
  • Own the creation, approval, and ongoing management of Bills of Materials (BOMs), manufacturing SOPs, and master production files for all new and existing products.
  • Coordinate between customers, vendors, product development, and production to ensure projects stay on schedule.
  • Release drawings and project documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Collaborate with product development and production teams to ensure designs are manufacturer and optimized for cost, efficiency, and quality (Design for Manufacturing, Design for Quality).
  • Create and maintain PFEAM.
  • Collaborate with QA and product development to analyze recurring field failures (e.g., drivers, controllers, LEDs), report findings.
  • Partner with the Plant Manager to conduct kaizen events focused on improving First Pass Yield (FPY) and reducing RMAs.
Requirements
Lighting‑Specific Focus Areas
  • Process Development: Extrusion, powder coating, anodizing, and other relevant processes for lighting components.
  • Materials Knowledge: Understand properties of materials like PMMA, polycarbonate, aluminum, and thermal adhesives.
  • LED Systems: Work closely with technologies like addressable RGBW LEDs, PCBs, drivers, DMX/SPI control systems, and thermal management strategies.
  • Compliance & Standards: Ensure products and processes meet UL, CSA, NOM, and other applicable certifications and standards.
Tools & Technical Skills
  • CAD Software: AutoCAD required; proficiency in SolidWorks, Onshape, or similar platforms is a plus.
  • Mechanical design skills are mandatory.
  • ERP Systems: Experience using ERP software (Epicor preferred) to manage BOMs, routing, and inventory data.
  • Microsoft Office: Strong proficiency in Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Data Analysis: Ability to interpret manufacturing data and identify trends for improvement.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or closely related discipline such as Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering).
  • Proven experience using AutoCAD and ERP systems.
  • Previous lighting or electronics experience is considered a strong asset.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Lean Six Sigma principles.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Performance Will Be Measured By
  • Project throughput and documentation accuracy.
  • Timely release of engineering data.
