StandardAero invites applications for a Manual Machinist to join our team in Winnipeg. You will operate lathes and mills, read blueprints, and ensure components meet exact specs with precision tools.

The role emphasizes safety, continuous improvement, and cross-training within a respected aerospace MRO environment. The ideal candidate has a Level 3 Machining apprenticeship and 5+ years of experience, with the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods.

Qualifications

  • Completion of at least Level 3 Machining from a recognized machinist program.
  • 5+ years of manual machining experience.
  • Proficient in reading blueprints and technical specifications.
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments and hand tools.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lb and stand for long periods.

Responsibilities

StandardAero is looking for a versatile Machinist with a passion for precision and craftsmanship with high mechanical aptitude with strong precision and accuracy.

Join StandardAero as a Manual Machinist and become part of a team dedicated to excellence in aerospace maintenance, repair and overhaul.

Shift requirement: Day shift M-F. This position may require flexibility to work multiple shifts as needed to support business demands. No regular shift rotation and no overnights.

What You’ll Do
  • Operate manual machines such as lathes/mills to machine components to exact specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, templates, and specification manuals to plan machining operations.
  • Calculate dimensions and tolerances, lay out workpieces, and verify accuracy using precision tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
  • Troubleshoot and adjust equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and cross-train in complementary skills to support production requirements.
  • Follow all safety protocols and report any unsafe conditions or practices immediately.
  • Adhere to company policies, including proactive risk management and Just Culture principles.
What Skills You’ll Need
  • Completion of at least Level 3 Machining or higher from a recognized machinist apprenticeship program or equivalent education and training.
  • 5+ years of manual machining experience
  • Proficient in blueprint reading and interpreting technical specifications.
  • Practical experience in using precision measuring instruments and hand tools.
  • Strong mathematical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Hands-on experience in manual machines such as mills, lathes, etc.
  • Red Seal Machinist certification is preferred.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes, metallurgy, and production management systems.
