Manual Machinist (Helicopter Business Unit)

Job Description

Are you a skilled Machinist with a passion for precision and craftsmanship? Join StandardAero as a Manual Machinist and become part of a team dedicated to excellence in aerospace maintenance, repair, and overhaul.

Shift Requirement: Must be flexible to work days and afternoons/evenings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate manual lathes, mills, and grinders to manufacture components to exact specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, templates, and specification manuals to plan machining operations.
  • Calculate dimensions and tolerances, lay out workpieces, and verify accuracy using precision tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
  • Troubleshoot and adjust equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and cross-train in complementary skills to support production requirements.
  • Follow all safety protocols and report any unsafe conditions or practices immediately.
  • Adhere to company policies, including proactive risk management and Just Culture principles.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in manual machining.
  • Red Seal Machinist certification is highly preferred.
  • High mechanical aptitude with strong precision and accuracy.
  • Proficient in blueprint reading and interpreting technical specifications.
  • Skilled in using precision measuring instruments and hand tools.
  • Strong mathematical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
  • Regularly required to stand for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Completion of a recognized machinist apprenticeship program or equivalent education and training. Preferably 3rd level apprentice minimum.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes, metallurgy, and production management systems.
