Job summary

Wood Mackenzie is seeking a Managing Consultant for its Supply Chain Consulting practice in Canada. You will lead project delivery, develop insights from industry data, and mentor junior staff while managing client relationships.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree with focus in engineering, science, supply chain or business.
• 5+ years in a Consulting, Supply Chain, Operations, or Engineering function; experience in Power & Renewables and/or Oil & Gas preferred.
• Exposure to IT or digital program environments is a plus, for example ERP implementations, IT category sourcing or vendor management, and is not a requirement.
• Exceptional analytical, problem solving, and time management skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills and desire to build trust with your client.
• Proven success contributing to team-oriented environments.
• Demonstrates judgement, maturity, and understanding of client challenges and constraints.
• Willingness to travel 60-80% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Provide deep analysis of quantitative and qualitative data and synthesize results into meaningful conclusions to help our clients make strategic procurement and capital project decisions.
• Perform market research to assess supply and demand factors influencing our clients' strategic business decisions.
• Support the bidding processes for large capital project contracts and strategic supply chain initiatives, including pricing analysis, bidder correspondence, negotiations, and contract implementations.
• Support sourcing and vendor selection for client IT and digital programs, including RFP design and evaluation, software and system integrator pricing analysis, and contract/SOW structuring.
• Oversee more junior members of the Supply Chain Consulting team and drive successful project execution.
• Coordinate with client supply chain management, PMOs, project executives and engineering teams to design and implement procurement solutions.
• Use WoodMac Energy Intelligence Platform tools to analyze spend, build cost models, forecast escalation, and support multiple consulting solutions.
• Mentor and QA/QC on work of junior staff; role model for more junior staff.

You will be tasked with developing and delivering insights drawn from our unparalleled industry data and experience. You will deliver innovative thinking supported by market research and your subject matter expertise and will leverage our software tools to help our energy clients make effective supply chain and capital project execution decisions. You will work closely with your project lead to successfully manage the project schedule. Depending on the size of the project that you are staffed on, you may have some combination of Consultants and Senior Consultants on the team over which you would play a vital role in mentoring and performing QA/QC on the work that they perform. In some cases (e.g. on smaller projects) you may not have more junior staff below you and so we are looking for someone who can roll up their sleeves and help us get the work done regardless of the scenario. You will likely have opportunities to develop relationships with clients and be a role model for our more junior staff. A growing portion of our pipeline supports client IT and digital programs, including ERP, GIS, customer information systems and network modernization.
