Description

Purpose

The Manager, Warehouse oversees all aspects of warehouse operations, including inventory management, team leadership, and internal logistics, with a key focus on provisioning the train. This role ensures the accurate, timely, and safe handling of materials, food, and beverages while maintaining compliance with railway and safety regulations. The Manager, Warehouse must be a detail-oriented leader who continuously seeks out operational efficiencies. By coordinating across procurement, logistics, and sales teams, the Manager, Warehouse drives efficiency, controls costs, and supports business objectives through effective resource allocation, process improvements, and performance management.

Key Areas of Accountability
Warehouse Operations
  • Oversees daily warehouse activities including inventory control, storage, and internal logistics.
  • Maintains accurate inventory records and leads monthly cycle counts and audits.
  • Allocates resources to meet operational targets and ensure timely provisioning of the train.
  • Coordinates with procurement, logistics, and sales teams to support the internal flow of goods.
Team Leadership & Oversight
  • Provides direction, scheduling, and performance evaluation for warehouse team members.
  • Delivers training to ensure adherence to safety protocols and operational standards.
  • Oversees payroll administration and scheduling accuracy.
Process & Performance
  • Implements and refines warehouse systems and processes to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Monitors and reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) to track operational effectiveness.
  • Liaises with purchaser to maintain adequate stock levels.
Compliance & Equipment
  • Ensures adherence to Canadian Railway Operating Rules (CROR), General Operating Instructions (GOI), and other safety regulations.
  • Oversees the proper use, maintenance, and safety of warehouse equipment and vehicles.
  • Ensures food, beverage, and material provisioning meets quality, safety, and timeliness standards.
Qualifications
Education / Certifications / Knowledge
  • Post‑secondary education in logistics, supply chain management, or business preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • In‑depth knowledge of workplace safety regulations and best practices.
Experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in warehouse management or a comparable logistics, supply chain, or operations role.
  • Demonstrated success in leading, developing, and supervising team members.
  • Proven background in warehouse operations, including inventory control, process improvement, and safe equipment use.
Skills
  • Proficiency in warehouse management systems (WMS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Physically able to move materials and operate warehouse equipment (e.g., forklifts) as required.

Compensation
  • The base salary offered for this role is $72,000 to $88,000 per annum and can vary based on job‑related expertise, qualifications, experience and internal equity.
