The Role

We are working towards our decarbonized future through the collaborative and responsible development of critical minerals and are looking for an experienced professional to join our Sustainability Team. Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Sustainability and External Relations, the Manager, Sustainability is accountable for company sustainability initiatives across disciplines working with community, engineering and environment teams. The Manager, Sustainability will lead the integration of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles into exploration and project development to support responsible resource development and derisk project development.

  • Managing company sustainability initiatives including the delivery of sustainability and materiality reporting and the establishment, tracking and auditing of ESG performance metrics
  • Work across disciplines including Project teams, exploration, engineering and with partners to support the implementation of sustainability measures including identifying and managing opportunities and risks
  • Lead sustainability initiatives and projects in partnership with First Nations and communities aligned with sustainability objectives
  • Maintain commitments and risk registers and lead proactive and periodic reviews as required to support continuous improvement in systems and company performance
  • Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of initiatives and programs, informed by emerging trends, frameworks, and industry benchmarks and provide advice and guidance to company operations
  • Provide input to and support the development of regulatory submissions including environmental assessment documents
  • Assist in the communication of technical information to First Nations governments and communities in meetings, workshops, open houses, etc. in collaboration with other key FPX representatives
  • Track the performance of the sustainability team including budgets, approvals and delivery against commitments
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key partners and stakeholders including travel to communities and project sites
Candidate Profile
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in environmental science, engineering, or a related technical field from an accredited university or college and a minimum of 8 years’ experience in a relevant environment related field
  • A demonstrated knowledge of sustainability frameworks, trends and industry benchmarks in the mining sector or related sector
  • Experience in applying and/or interpreting environmental laws and regulations in Canada and BC in mining and mine development is an asset
  • Strong communication, analytical, critical thinking, and leadership skills, with ability to influence across senior levels of the business
  • A commitment to develop and maintain positive and professional relationships with partners and all other stakeholders in both formal and informal settings
  • A strong commitment to workplace safety and ethics
  • Willingness and ability to travel both in Canada and overseas as required in achieving company objectives
