Job summary

Royal Columbian Hospital is one of British Columbia's busiest hospitals and serves as a leading referral centre for patients across Fraser Health and the province. Located in New Westminster, it provides specialized care in cardiac services, trauma, neurosciences, high-risk maternity, neonatal intensive care, and mental health. Royal Columbian is the only hospital in British Columbia that brings all of these specialized services together on a single site, caring for some of the province's most critically ill and injured patients.

Today, Royal Columbian Hospital is evolving to meet the growing and changing needs of the communities it serves. The hospital's redevelopment is transforming the campus through a series of major projects designed to expand capacity, enhance access to specialized care, and support the delivery of innovative, patient-centred healthcare. POSITION SUMMARY

The Manager, Stewardship & Donor Engagement plays a key role in strengthening relationships between Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation, its donors, Royal Columbian Hospital, Fraser Health, and other stakeholders. Reporting to the Vice President, Marketing & Communications, the role leads and coordinates key donor stewardship, recognition, and engagement initiatives, with responsibility for donor recognition projects, naming opportunities, and activities connected to hospital redevelopment. Working collaboratively with Foundation staff, hospital leaders, Fraser Health, government partners, consultants, and vendors, the position helps ensure campaign-related donor commitments are fulfilled and opportunities for donor engagement and recognition are thoughtfully integrated into the hospital environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Redevelopment & Capital Project Engagement
  • Represent the Foundation on Royal Columbian Hospital redevelopment and construction initiatives.
  • Attend project meetings and serve as the Foundation's primary liaison with redevelopment teams and construction partners.
  • Ensure Foundation priorities, donor recognition requirements, and stewardship opportunities are incorporated into redevelopment planning and work plans.
  • Build collaborative relationships with project partners to support future donor engagement opportunities.
  • Identify opportunities for donor funding, cultivation, stewardship, recognition, and engagement throughout redevelopment projects.
  • Develop and maintain fact sheets and related information resources for redevelopment and capital projects.
Individual Donor Recognition & Special Projects
  • Coordinate the design, fabrication, and installation of recognition elements for individual donors, as well as for Foundation-led special projects and installations across the hospital campus.
  • Work with designers, vendors, fundraisers, and hospital stakeholders to develop recognition solutions and special installations that reflect Foundation objectives and standards. This response included
  • Determine appropriate installation locations in collaboration with hospital facilities and redevelopment teams.
  • Obtain required Fraser Health Facilities Management and Operations (FMO) work permits and coordinate installation schedules.
  • Manage project budgets, vendor relationships, invoices, timelines, and project close-out activities, as applicable.
  • Maintain design standards and style guides for individual donor installations.
  • Maintain and update donor recognition information within NXT.
Naming Opportunities & Applications
  • Manage the Foundation's inventory of naming opportunities across the Royal Columbian Hospital campus.
  • Assess the eligibility and availability of naming opportunities in accordance with Foundation and Fraser Health policies.
  • Track confirmed donor selections and maintain an up-to-date naming catalogue.
  • Work closely with hospital leadership and redevelopment teams to confirm the viability of spaces prior to donor discussions.
  • Advise fundraising staff on available naming opportunities and associated recognition requirements.
  • Prepare naming applications for submission to Fraser Health and the Ministry of Health.
  • Coordinate internal reviews and obtain hospital leadership approvals.
  • Track application status through all stages of the approval process.
  • Maintain records of approvals, naming agreements, and supporting documentation.
Stewardship Milestone Activities & Reporting
  • Lead the planning and execution of select recognition events and activities for significant donors, including major gift announcements, naming unveilings, and other significant stewardship milestones.
  • Coordinate internal teams, hospital representatives, external venues (where applicable), vendors, and event partners.
  • Manage event budgets, timelines, and logistics.
  • Ensure these select milestone events deliver a meaningful donor experience while supporting Foundation objectives.
  • Track campaign-related stewardship commitments and provide regular reporting on project status, naming opportunities, and donor recognition activities.
  • Prepare quarterly donor recognition reports for the Foundation President & CEO.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience in donor relations, stewardship, fundraising, communications, project management, or a related field.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage timelines, budgets, vendors, and multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working with databases or CRM systems; Raiser’s Edge NXT experience would be an asset.
  • Ability to work diplomatically with senior leaders, donors, clinicians, facilities teams, and external partners.
  • Knowledge of healthcare, capital projects, donor recognition, or naming practices would be an asset.
