Job description

Hi there! Thanks for stopping by

Are you an experienced, bilingual social media leader ready to help shape the global brand presence of a dynamic technology company headquartered in Montreal? Lightspeed is seeking a strategic and collaborative Manager, Social Media to join our in-house Brand & Communications team for a 13-month fixed-term contract.

In this role, you’ll maintain and evolve Lightspeed’s global social media strategy and presence, working closely with a talented social media team and cross-functional partners across the business. You’ll ensure a cohesive brand presence across global and regional channels, guide the team’s priorities and development, and turn social insights into opportunities to strengthen our brand and connect with audiences across markets. Reporting to the Senior Director, Communications, you’ll play a key role in shaping Lightspeed’s social media presence across markets.

Please note that this is a 13-month fixed-term contract position.

What you'll be responsible for:

  • Social media strategy & evolution: Maintain and evolve Lightspeed’s global social media strategy, ensuring alignment with broader business and marketing objectives. Guide the ongoing iteration and optimisation of channel strategies and content pillars across Lightspeed’s global social channels, with a focus on Retail and Hospitality. Identify opportunities to strengthen the brand’s social presence, content approach, and audience engagement across platforms.

  • Team leadership & development: Manage and support a team consisting of a Social Media Specialist, Community Management Specialist and Social Media Intern. Foster a collaborative team environment, provide guidance and mentorship, set priorities and ensure clear ownership across social media content, community management, and employee advocacy initiatives.

  • Social media content production: Manage the relationship with Lightspeed’s social media production agency and collaborate with in-house Design and Motion teams to develop social-first content and case studies. Provide strategic direction, feedback, and approvals throughout the production process, supporting content for both Lightspeed’s global and Quebec channels.

  • Cross-functional partnership: Act as a key social media strategic partner, collaborating closely with Brand, PR, Product Marketing, Integrated Marketing, Events, and other teams to integrate social media into broader campaigns and initiatives. Provide strategic social input from the planning stage through execution, ensuring social opportunities are considered and effectively activated across relevant initiatives.

  • Global & regional alignment: Partner with North America, EMEA and APAC teams to act as a social media brand steward, ensuring a cohesive global presence across Lightspeed’s social channels while accounting for regional and local market nuances. Support regional teams in maintaining consistency with global social strategy, brand guidelines, messaging, and best practices.

  • Lightspeed Quebec: Manage Lightspeed Quebec’s social presence, ensuring the local channel strategy and content are aligned with the broader Lightspeed brand while reflecting the Quebec market and audience. Collaborate with local stakeholders and cross-functional partners to identify relevant stories, campaigns, and opportunities to strengthen Lightspeed’s presence in Quebec.

  • Data reporting & optimisation: Guide the monthly organic social media reporting process across Lightspeed’s global channels and share key insights with broader teams and stakeholders. Use performance data and audience insights to identify what is working, areas for improvement, and opportunities to optimise the social media strategy.

  • Campaign management: Support the strategic planning, briefing, management, and measurement of brand and social media campaigns, providing strategic feedback on concepts and production plans to ensure social content is impactful and aligned with the broader campaign objectives.

  • Workflow & operations: Stay on top of social media workflows, including global content calendar planning, briefing, approvals, asset delivery, and publishing, and identify opportunities to improve processes and ways of working when needed.

  • Employee advocacy & community: Provide guidance and approval for the Life at Lightspeed program, led by the Social Media Intern, ensuring content aligns with Lightspeed’s brand and social strategy. Support employee advocacy and culture storytelling across Instagram and TikTok.

What you'll bring to the team:

  • 6+ years of experience in social media management, ideally within an established brand.

  • Experience managing a creative, content or social media team, with a track record of supporting team development and setting priorities.

  • Experience developing and managing social media strategies, with the ability to adapt content and approaches to different platforms and audiences.

  • Experience working with creative partners and agencies to develop and deliver social-first content and campaigns.

  • Comfort using social media performance data to identify insights and inform content and strategy.

  • Familiarity with social media management, listening, and analytics tools.

  • Fluency in spoken and written English and French.

  • Located in Montreal.

  • As a global company with employees and clients outside of Quebec, fluency in English as a working language is required for this position.

Even better if you have:

  • Experience in the technology or SaaS industry, particularly in e-commerce or point-of-sale solutions.

  • Experience working across global and regional social media programs, balancing brand consistency with local market needs.

  • Experience with advanced social media advertising strategies and budget management.

  • Experience implementing AI tools into workflows to increase efficiency.
