Job summary

Bank of Montreal is seeking a Manager, Data Analytics to lead advanced analytics, data quality, and reporting for risk management and regulatory needs. You will build scalable data processes, mentor a team, and ensure governance and data integrity.

You will engage with stakeholders to translate business requirements into analytical solutions, driving data-driven decision making across risk, portfolios, and strategy. A strong, collaborative leader is essential.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree in a quantitative discipline (Statistics, Mathematics, CS).
  • 5–7+ years in data analytics, data science, or risk analytics with financial services experience preferred.
  • Experience with risk data, model monitoring, and regulatory reporting is highly valued.

The role leverages large-scale data, advanced analytics, and emerging technologies to generate actionable insights, improve data quality, and enable consistent, data-driven decision-making across the organization.The incumbent will manage a team of analytics professionals, deliver scalable analytics solutions, and ensure alignment with enterprise data governance standards and regulatory expectations.Translate business requirements into technical analytics solutions and scalable data processes.Deliver insights and recommendations to support risk monitoring, portfolio analysis, and business strategy.Data Quality & GovernanceLead data quality initiatives including rule definition, monitoring, issue identification, and remediation.Ensure adherence to enterprise data governance frameworks and support regulatory requirements (e.g., model monitoring, reporting accuracy).Work closely with data providers and stakeholders to resolve data issues and improve data integrity.Business & Stakeholder EngagementPartner with business, product, and risk teams to support data-driven decision-making and planning.Communicate complex analytical findings clearly to senior stakeholders through reporting and visualization.Provide consulting support on analytics, reporting, and data quality challenges.Team Leadership & DevelopmentLead and coach a team of data analysts and data scientists to deliver high-quality outcomes.Set clear objectives, monitor performance, and support career development.Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture aligned with BMO values and inclusion principles.Innovation & Continuous ImprovementIdentify opportunities to enhance analytics capabilities, automation, and efficiency.Evaluate and adopt new tools, technologies, and methodologies to improve analytics and data processing.Drive the transition from ad hoc analysis to scalable, production-ready analytics solutions.QualificationsEducation & ExperienceTypically 5–7+ years of experience in data analytics, data science, or risk analytics.Experience in financial services, risk analytics, or regulatory reporting is highly preferred.Post-secondary degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science).Technical SkillsCore SkillsStrong analytical and problem-solving capabilitiesData-driven decision making and business insight generationData visualization (e.g., Power BI)Programming (e.g., Python, SQL)SAS only nice to have for legacy purposes not mandatoryData wrangling, preprocessing, and ETL processesAdvanced / PreferredBig data technologies and scalable data platformsAI driven skills and predictive analytics (nice to have)Data quality methodology and governance frameworksExperience with risk data and model monitoring platformsLeadership & CompetenciesStrong communication and stakeholder management skillsAbility to influence decisions using data and insightsProven experience managing and developing teamsAbility to operate independently and manage complex, non-routine workScope & ImpactPrimary focus on business/group-level analytics delivery, with potential enterprise-wide impact.Provides specialized technical and analytical support to drive business and regulatory outcomes.Salary :$82,800.00 - $154,800.00Pay Type:SalariedThe above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type.Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
