As part of the FRR team in Enterprise Controllers’ Group in our Toronto head office you will be part of a collaborative team culture that strives to challenge ourselves to be our best, think progressively, and work together to deliver collective results. The Manager – Regulatory Reporting (Canada), reporting to the Director/Senior Manager Regulatory Reporting, will assist the team in providing accurate and timely financial information to the bank’s Canadian regulators by implementing process changes across CFO group to drive efficiencies or meet changing external requirements and build/maintain an exceptional control environment.

What will you do?
Support the preparation of consolidated RBC Regulatory Financial Reporting, including analyses and insights for senior management across Finance:
- Support the preparation and reconciliation of financial data for accurate and timely submission of regulatory filings to our Canadian Regulators including OSFI, Bank of Canada and StatsCan for RBC Consolidated and at the legal entity level in accordance with timelines for monthly, quarterly, and year end deliverables. Regulatory returns include: M4 (Balance Sheet), P3 (Statement of Comprehensive Income, Retained Earnings, and AOCI), Z4 (Balance Sheet by Booking Location), A4 (Report on New and Existing Loans), and other regulatory filings related to RBC’s financial statements.
- Assist in establishing and maintaining an effective financial/regulatory control environment, including process documentation, regulatory guidance, operating guidelines.
- Be the subject matter expert for Canadian Regulatory Financial Reporting filings, responsible for addressing specific technical queries raised by RBC stakeholders by conducting research to provide technical guidance on regulatory filing specifics and interpretation; seek guidance from regulators and/or collaborate with other applicable member institutions as appropriate.
- Foster collaboration and high performance with key stakeholders including platform financial control teams, IT, Group Risk Management, Accounting Policy Group, Tax, Capital and other Enterprise Controllers Group partners, striving to be a center of knowledge and excellence with accountability in resolving all regulatory reporting matters in Canada.
- As part of broader automation project, assist in articulating regulatory requirements to drive project requirements, investigating and defining critical data elements from source systems required to complete regulatory returns and helping to ensure appropriate controls over the critical data elements are in place.
What will you need to succeed?
Must have
- CPA designation or equivalent.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance designation.
- Think critically, challenge financial data when inconsistent or illogical through data analysis, and excellent attention to details.
- Independently propose solutions to problems and, leveraging business and strategic insights, recommend a course of action to reporting manager and team members.
- Manage timelines and project progress through both personal accountability and through coordinating with team members, manager and other stakeholders.
- Desire and motivation to learn, challenge the status quo.
- Document complex subject matter through strong written and oral-communication skills.
- Analyze large data sets using advanced Excel functions.
- Curiosity to explore better ways of working maintaining a strong governance mindset, accompanied by a drive to take ownership for and resolve issues with a sense of urgency.
- Ability to multitask and handle multiple requests on an ongoing basis.
Nice-to-have
- Experience and understanding of RBC’s businesses and transactions, and associated risks & returns.
- Financial reporting or regulatory reporting experience is preferred.
