Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or computer science (or related field).
  • Certification in top automation tools is an asset.
  • PM certification an asset.
  • Minimum of 8 years progressive IT experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years in applications testing, QA, performance testing and environment management.
  • Minimum of 2 years of people leadership, PM and delivery experience in insurance.
  • Experience with functional and non-functional test design & execution.
  • Strong understanding of SDLC and Agile Scrum leadership for QA teams.
  • Enterprise DevOps understanding.
  • Non-functional focus including performance, scalability, resiliency, and security.
  • Experience leading test automation programs is preferred.
  • Knowledge of testing & automation tools.
  • Experience with DevOps, SQL, OS troubleshooting; Jira/Confluence/LoadRunner/Selenium/Ranorex/Jenkins is desirable.
  • Vendor relationship management experience.
  • Focus on continuous improvement and quality in IT delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the implementation, growth and adoption of test automation across the enterprise.
  • Lead an Automation First mandate in all testing phases.
  • Define and improve quality engineering policies and procedures.
  • Design, measure, report, and improve automation and system performance metrics.
  • Manage budgets with proven cost management achievements.
  • Collaborate with teams to develop performance engineering and lead performance testing.
  • Support environments for testing and production launches across programs and insurers.
  • Support release planning and manage intake with stakeholders for deployments.
  • Design systems to support continuous delivery and on-demand environment management.
  • Develop automation and release management tool roadmaps.
  • Partner with leaders to align quality needs to the roadmap.
  • Coach and mentor team members to excel and engage.

What You Will Do
  • Drive the implementation, growth and adoption of test automation across enterprise
  • Drive an Automation First mandate in all phases of testing
  • Define and improve quality engineering and automation policies and procedures
  • Design, measure, report, and continuously improve automation and system performance metrics
  • Experience managing capital and operational budgets, with proven cost management achievements
  • Collaborate with functional and development teams to develop performance engineering discipline and lead performance testing effort across lines of business
  • Support the team to manage the various environments required for testing and production launches for program and projects across Insurance companies
  • Support the release planning leads to diligently manage intake and collaborate with stakeholders to plan deployments
  • Design systems to support continuous delivery and adapt test environment management to support on-demand, self-service automation
  • Develop technology roadmap for automation, performance testing and release management tools
  • Partner with system and business leaders to understand their quality needs and incorporate that into roadmap
  • Coach and mentor team members to enable them to excel in their roles and support engagement activities

The expected salary range for this position will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate’s skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position’s business line, scope and level. Who You Are
  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in engineering, computer science, or related practice
  • Certification in top automation tools and courses an asset
  • Project Management certification an asset
  • Minimum of 8 years progressive work experience in information technology
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in applications testing, quality assurance, quality engineering, performance testing and environment management
  • Minimum of 2 years of people leadership, project management and delivery experience within the insurance industry
  • Experience with both functional and non-functional (load, performance, failure, etc.) test design & execution
  • Strong understanding of Software Development Lifecycle and Agile Scrum development methodology and in leading Agile Scrum QA teams
  • Understanding of enterprise DevOps
  • Strong understanding of non-functional behaviors that include performance, scalability / resource utilization, resiliency & security, high availability
  • Experience leading test automation programs desired
  • Knowledge and experience with testing & automation tools
  • Knowledge and experience in DevOps, SQL, O/S troubleshooting and tooling (Jira, Confluence, LoadRunner, Selenium, Ranorex, Jenkins) desired
  • Experience managing key vendor relationships with demonstrated benefits to the business through strong relationship management
  • Demonstrated focus on continuous improvement and quality in IT delivery, support and compliance Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language
