What You’ll Do

This Manager will drive revenue generation and enhanced client relationships through a collaborative approach to proposals. To this end, the Manager, Proposals will have primary responsibility to :

  • Manage the proposal process and pipeline on a national basis and act as subject matter expert and strategist for all new business opportunities
  • Manage and assign work to a team of proposal professionals, support them through their daily responsibilities, and review drafts to ensure consistency and quality
  • Analyze requirements, compile background information and collaborate with partners and BD team members to develop a clear, focused and tailored strategy
  • Lead and manage significant proposals from planning the kick-off meeting through final deliverables and feedback collection
  • Write new and tailor existing content to create client-focused proposals and serve as the primary editor of proposals to convert contributors’ content into a clear voice
  • Review, analyze and report on proposal activities and outcomes (win ratios, new wins, lessons learned)
  • Coach and develop the proposal team to deepen their understanding of best practices and legal services
  • Develop and implement quality improvement initiatives to continually advance the proposal function, including templates, workflows, tracking, and debrief feedback
  • Maintain the quality and growth of content used for proposals, including practice and sector content, cases studies, and workplans
  • Actively participate in group’s BD meetings to provide value and guidance
  • Support other MBD projects as required
What You’ll Bring
  • You have prior experience crafting client focused proposals and other collateral to support new business opportunities
  • You have a minimum of 7-10 years’ experience, preferably in a law firm or in other professional services firms
  • You have superior English writing skills with the ability to communicate clearly, persuasively and effectively in the current business environment (French written skills is a definite asset)
  • You work well under pressure and handle stress and multiple tasks in a composed, calm and professional manner
  • You embrace AI and evolving technology, and have strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, proposal software, database management / CRM systems, and analytics tools
  • You have proven experience leading and motivating a team to achieve high performance and deliver results
  • You take pride in your track record of managing people, fostering collaboration and supporting professional growth within a team environment
  • You are a team player with a flexible attitude, capable of setting direction and establishing priorities, and possess excellent organizational and communication skills
  • You take initiative, work autonomously and maintain a positive attitude both independently and when collaborating with cross-functional teams
  • You enjoy project work and do not shy away from rolling up the sleeves
  • You can work overtime as required
