Job summary

Apotex is seeking a Production Manager, Compounding in Canada to lead all aspects of compounding and manufacturing operations. You will drive safe, efficient production while advancing performance, productivity, quality, safety, and continuous improvement initiatives.

The role requires strategic and operational leadership of a diverse team, ensuring compliance with cGMP, regulatory requirements, and company policies.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the department meets the business schedule.
  • Provide short-mid term strategic direction to the department.
  • Identify potential impediments to business schedule completion and provide direction for the department to overcome.
  • Ensure the department is a “compliant” state with regards to safety and cGMP requirements.
  • Recruit, train, develop and manage effectively the ongoing performance of direct reports.
  • Foster the development of the “team” approach and empower the group to maintain accountability.
  • Review performance data and implement corrective actions to achieve objectives.
  • Represent the manufacturing interests in the absence of the Director of Production.

The Production Manager, Compounding is responsible for leading all aspects of compounding and manufacturing operations to ensure the safe, efficient, and compliant production of pharmaceutical products. This role provides strategic and operational leadership to a diverse team while driving performance, productivity, quality, safety, and continuous improvement initiatives.

The successful candidate will foster a culture of accountability, employee engagement, and operational excellence while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, cGMP standards, and company policies. This position plays a critical role in meeting business objectives, optimizing resources, and supporting future manufacturing growth.

Job Responsibilities
  • Ensure that the department is meeting the needs of the business schedule.
  • Provide short-mid term strategic direction to the department.
  • Identify potential impediments to business schedule completion and provide direction for the department to overcome.
  • Ensure the department is a “compliant” state with regards to safety and cGMP requirements.
  • Ensure Apotex Inc. policies are being fairly and correctly administered in the department.
  • Translate future business needs into resource plans for equipment and staff..
  • Review “systems” and procedures to ensure that support activities are being performed in the most efficient manner.
  • Review performance data from the department and implement corrective actions to achieve the business objectives.
  • Represent the manufacturing interests in the absence of the Director of Production
  • Responsible to ensure compliance of team members (direct reports) with Safety and Employment policies (e.g., Respect in the Workplace – Prevention of Violence and/or Harassment).
  • Recruit, train, develop and manage effectively the ongoing performance of direct reports, which includes, but is not limited to:
  • Ensure the personal development of staff is maintained through training and performance monitoring.
  • Foster the development of the “team” approach and “empowerment” of the group to develop and maintain an environment that stresses accountability and self-compliance.
  • Ensuring employee’s Job Descriptions are reviewed, signed and sent to Employee Services, annually.
  • Reviewing and updating employee development plans, ensuring that all employees are properly trained and qualified to execute their duties,
  • Providing coaching, feedback and recognition,
  • Responsible to ensure compliance of team members (direct reports) with Safety and Employment policies (e.g., Respect in the Workplace – Prevention of Violence and/or Harassment).
  • Works as a member of a team to achieve all outcomes.
  • Performs all work in support of our Corporate Values of Pride, Accountability, Integrity and Diligence; Demonstrates strong and visible support of our values.
  • Performs all work in accordance with all established regulatory and compliance and safety requirements.
  • Participate and lead performance conversations with employees, including monthly one on ones, to connect on performance; check in on employee’s progress toward achieving Objectives, offer support and remove barriers; and, communicate and revisit performance expectations to reinforce and encourage high performance culture and a safe working environment for all employees.
  • Utilize open, honest, two way communication to build trust-based relationships with employees, business partners and direct leader while continuously improving leadership capabilities by personally seeking feedback and development.

Job Requirements
  • Education
    • A Bachelor of Science Degree or equivalent

    • Strong communication skills with demonstrated Project Management knowledge
  • Experience
    • Eight to ten year experience in a progressive manufacturing organization with proven capital/technical leadership capability

The hiring range for this position is $109,933.56 to $153,906.98 per year. The final agreed-upon salary may vary based on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experience.
