Job summary

Doane Grant Thornton in Canada seeks a Manager for the Privately Held Business Group to lead client engagements across industries and supervise an accounting team. You will review corporate and personal tax returns, contribute to business development, and help shape the office business plan with a focus on quality and client service.

The role requires CPA designation (asset) and at least 5 years' public accounting experience, with strong accounting and tax expertise.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in public accounting or related field.
• Strong accounting and tax technical expertise.
• Experience with Caseware, Taxprep and QuickBooks is an asset.
• Commitment to quality and professional growth.

As a Manager, Privately Held Business Group your responsibilities will include:

• Leading and executing client engagements across different industries and sectors
• Analysis and review of corporate and personal income tax returns, complete various engagements including compilations and reviews
• Contributing to new business development by understanding all Grant Thornton services and by using your credibility in the field
• Acting as a leader in the business unit, service line, and firm by actively contributing to the development and execution of the office business plan
• Being a leader in the firm by actively contributing to the development and execution of the office business plan
• Maximizing engagement profitability by effectively utilizing engagement resources
• Planning and leading teams to ensure that client expectations are exceeded
• Supervision and mentoring of an accounting team, including the review of files
• Leading through the coaching and performance management process of the practice by providing ongoing feedback, conducting timely performance reviews, and delivering training to develop team members
