Why This Role is Important

The Manager, Privacy will be responsible for maintaining and operating a best-in-class privacy program supporting President’s Choice Bank (PC Bank) as part of the PC Financial Privacy Office. The Manager, Privacy plays an important role in supporting privacy compliance and fostering a culture of privacy and data protection at PC Bank. In this position, you will report to the Senior Manager, PC Financial Privacy Office. What you'll do :

  • Manage and execute PC Bank’s privacy program components (e.g., data privacy assessments, vendor assessments, contract reviews, and reporting) in a manner fit for purpose for PC Bank
  • Perform risk assessments and provide recommendations regarding data and privacy controls, balancing business enablement and compliance.
  • Intake, assess and respond to customer access requests, complaints and inquiries, ensuring timely and accurate responses within established privacy regulations, policies and frameworks.
  • Oversee periodic metrics and reporting (including tracking privacy risks and remediation), providing insight into the Bank’s privacy program performance and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Serve as an advocate for privacy awareness and compliance, including planning and executing stakeholder engagements (e.g. developing and delivering privacy training, facilitating Loblaws’ Data Privacy Week.).
  • Stay updated on business operations and initiatives and promote privacy-by-design principles in product lifecycle and management, including artificial intelligence (AI) and large language model (LLM) deployments.
  • Optimize and update privacy processes, standards, playbooks and tools based on changes to privacy laws, industry standards and best practices.
  • Support privacy breach management activities from intake, escalation and investigation to resolution.
  • Facilitate PC Bank’s records management policies and procedures to support a timely and compliant records retention program.
What you bring :
  • 3-5 years of experience in Privacy Risk Management.
  • International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) certification (CIPP / C, CIPP / M or equivalent experience) is an asset.
  • Post Secondary Education preferred.
  • Well versed with Canadian privacy laws, privacy principles, industry best practices and knowledge of international laws and privacy trends.
  • Experience in a financial institution or with the financial services industry preferred.
  • Experience with risk management, compliance and project management frameworks and methodologies is an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, time-management, organizational and presentation skills, including the ability to present succinctly and effectively to varying levels of management.
  • A self-starter who is proactive, takes initiative and consistently drives projects forward with minimal supervision. Strong ability to grasp complex and ambiguous problems and distill them into clear, understandable terms and requirements.
  • A positive attitude, thoughtfulness as well as collaboration and creativity.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while organizing and managing multiple responsibilities and projects with competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to approach situations and challenges with an action‑oriented mindset and act decisively.
