Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Plant Manager to oversee our manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading and managing all operations within the poultry processing facility specializing in deboning, portion cutting, and freezing of marinated chicken products. This role oversees production, scheduling, staffing, quality, food safety, and compliance to meet operational goals. The successful candidate will drive efficiencies, ensure product consistency, and maintain a strong safety culture.

Responsibilities
  • Direct and oversee daily plant operations, including deboning, portion cutting, freezing, and packaging of marinated poultry products.
  • Develop and manage daily and weekly production schedules to meet customer orders, maximize throughput, and optimize labor and equipment usage.
  • Coordinate with Supply Chain, Sales, and Procurement teams to ensure raw material availability and schedule alignment.
  • Adjust schedules in response to changes in demand, equipment downtime, absenteeism, or other operational variables.
  • Ensure all products meet company and customer specifications for quality, yield, and weight compliance.
  • Monitor and improve plant performance metrics (KPIs), including throughput, yield, labor cost, downtime, and waste.
  • Lead, coach, and hold department supervisors and team leads accountable to schedules and performance expectations.
  • Partner with Maintenance, QA, and HR to ensure planned maintenance, sanitation, and staffing are incorporated into the production schedule.
  • Implement and sustain Lean manufacturing principles and best practices.
  • Manage labor and staffing schedules in alignment with production needs while controlling overtime.
  • Collaborate with HR on shift coverage, cross-training, and workforce planning.
  • Lead plant audits, inspections, and customer visits as needed.
  • Create and maintain accurate production, employee, and inventory records.
  • Identify and resolve operating problems to minimize impact on operations.
  • Develop and implement production schedules to optimize use of raw materials.
  • Coordinate interdepartmental raw and finished material needs.
  • Ensure each team member follows the company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a working environment in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Obtain the highest quality product within specifications at the lowest possible cost, consistent with GMPs and HACCP principles.
  • Maintain a clean and safe plant; ensure HACCP and GMPs are maintained, implemented, and enforced.
  • Maintain strict compliance with CFIA, and company food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Provide leadership and positive motivation for direct reports and employees.
  • Supervise, evaluate, review, and develop employees; foster a well-trained and motivated staff.
  • Responsible for succession planning and employee development within the operations area.
  • Provide necessary tools to supervisors to achieve consistently improving results.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Weekend work or overtime may be scheduled; coverage for the department is essential.
Qualifications
  • High level of interpersonal skills; ability to work collaboratively, build teams, and lead cross-functional teams.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role; meat industry experience is preferred but not required.
  • Assertive with strong organizational skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of poultry deboning and portioning operations is an asset.
  • In-depth knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, CFIA regulations, and food safety protocols is an asset.
