What is the opportunity?

The Manager, Platform Financial Control will ensure the accuracy of the Personal Banking Financials by executing on the end-to-end processes for month-end close reporting and which includes preparing journal entries and analysis of variances. This role is responsible for the quarterly disclosure note preparation for external financial reporting for Personal Banking; as well as supporting special projects as assigned by senior management, including business re-organizations, data analytics and automation projects.

What will you do?
  • Responsible for the accurate month end income statement results with specific responsibility related to Bonus, Income Protection, Provisions and Management Taxes. This includes preparation of journal entries and review of source files.
  • Responsible for the accurate account balance attestation and Standard of Documentations (SOD) related to the assigned account balances noted above.
  • Support monthly financial close processes, which includes additional journal entry preparation.
  • Coordinate, review and distribute Material Items List on a weekly basis.
  • Ensure proper review and signoff of month end results is completed in a timely manner, and proper documentation is maintained to support the signoff.
  • Prepare or review quarterly disclosure information submissions to Financial & Regulatory Reporting (FRR) team including supporting schedules as assigned.
  • Analyze and resolve issues within reports prepared to ensure report integrity and completeness.
  • Perform periodic review of process documents and update working papers as required.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to further streamline processes and improve productivity through manual process changes and automation opportunities.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
  • Accounting designation – CPA, CGA, CMA with 3+ years post-qualification experience in an accounting (preferred) or finance role
  • Ability to work independently and strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task
  • Attention to detail and the ability to perform under tight timeline and pressure
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills
Nice-to-have
  • Working knowledge of RBC finance systems
  • Excellent conflict and issue resolution ability
  • Familiarity with VBA is an asset
