Job summary

Vaco invites applications for a Manager of Treasury & Risk Management with a leading mining company headquartered in Toronto. The role covers liquidity management, FX hedging, commodity risk, insurance, and precious metals trading, partnering with senior leaders and banking partners.

You will oversee centralized banking activities, support hedging strategies, advise on risk controls, and guide operations on insurance and contract risk mitigation. Eligibility to work in Canada is required.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of treasury experience in cash/liquidity management, FX and commodity hedging.
• Strong financial modeling and analytical skills.
• CPA or other professional designation is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Manage centralized banking activities, cash management, investment and liquidity initiatives.
• Lead management of foreign exchange risks including analysis of currency exposures and hedging strategies.
• Support refining and precious metals sales/trading processes and capital market dynamics.
• Contribute to commodity risk management including diesel and other commodity exposures.
• Provide leadership on insurance coverage, contract language, and risk mitigation strategies; coordinate risk control visits.

About the Opportunity

• Manage centralized banking activities, cash management, investment and liquidity initiatives, including coordination with global banking providers and internal stakeholders.
• Partner with internal and external stakeholders (Treasury, Finance, Operations, Construction, Projects, Banking Counterparts, etc.) to lead the management of the company’s foreign exchange risks, including analysis of currency exposures and supporting hedging strategies (pre/post-trade).
• Support the refining and precious metals sales/trading process (pre/post-trade), gaining exposure to precious metals and capital market dynamics, as well as commercial decision-making.
• Contribute to commodity risk (input cost) management activities, including building an understanding of diesel and other commodity exposures and their impact on business operations.
• Provide leadership and guidance to operations and corporate teams on insurance coverage, contract language, and risk mitigation strategies. Coordinate and lead risk control visits and follow-up on recommendations to improve operational risk profiles.

About You

• CPA or other professional designation is an asset.
• 3+ years of treasury experience, with exposure to areas such as cash/liquidity management, FX and commodity hedging, and/or insurance.
• Strong financial modeling and analytical skills.
• Ideally at the Managerial level currently

Salary Range

$135,000 - $150,000/year
