Job summary

The Municipality of East Hants is seeking a Manager of Recreation and Aquatics to oversee programs at the East Hants Aquatic Centre and Sportsplex, including contracts, café and sport shop operations, and service delivery across facilities.

You bring post-secondary education in Recreation or Business, 5+ years in recreation/aquatics with 2+ years in supervision, strong leadership and customer service, and relevant certifications (NLC/CPO) or willingness to obtain, plus DEI focus and MS

• Proficiency with MS Office and program registration software.

Responsibilities

• Oversee delivery of recreation programs and services at multiple facilities.
• Manage rental contracts for facilities, and cafe and sport shop operations.
• Lead and develop a team of recreation and aquatics professionals; ensure high customer service standards.
• Coordinate cross‑facility programming and partnerships to serve the community.

Due to an internal promotion, we are accepting resumes for a Manager of Recreation and Aquatics to join our team.

The Manager of Recreation and Aquatics is responsible for the oversight and delivery of recreation programs and services at the East Hants Aquatic Centre, East Hants Sportsplex, and across the Municipality. This role is responsible for the oversight of rental contracts for each facility, and café and sport shop operations at the East Hants Sportsplex. This role leads a team of recreation and aquatics professionals, and ensures that consistent and quality levels of customer‑service are delivered across all recreation programs and facilities.

What You Can Offer

• You have a post‑secondary education in Recreation, Business, or a related field.
• You have five or more years experience in recreation, aquatics, events, or a related field, including at least two years of experience in a supervisory position.
• You have experience leading the development and delivery of recreation‑related programs or events for a variety of audiences, including children, adults, families, and seniors.
• You have demonstrated experience with coaching, motivating, and leading a team.
• You have a strong background and understanding of delivering high‑quality customer service in your field.
• You have your National Lifeguard Certification or you are willing to obtain. Preference will be given to candidates who currently hold aquatics certifications
• You have your Certified Pool Operator (CPO) Level 1 or you are willing to obtain.
• You are a champion of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion with skills to foster a welcoming and accessible environment for all staff, program attendees, and facility user groups.
• You have experience with MS Office Suite, and have a familiarity with program registration software.
• Clear criminal record and child abuse registry checks.

The East Hants Aquatic Centre is an inclusive and fully accessible aquatics facility featuring lap pool, leisure pool, lazy river, hot tub, waterslide and climbing wall. This state‑of‑the‑art facility provides East Hants and surrounding areas with a diverse variety of aquatic programming and other recreation‑based activities.

East Hants Sportsplex

The East Hants Sportsplex is a vibrant hub for sports, recreation and community events. Our facility features two arena ice pads, three year‑round artificial turf fields, a Café, Sport Shop, and three versatile multi‑purpose rooms ready to host a wide range of activities.

Annual salary: $87,303.00 — $109,127.00
