Job description

The Opportunity

Build the Future with Us. Step into a leadership role that shapes how communities grow. As Manager, Municipal Engineering (Land Development & Municipal Engineering), you’ll lead a high-performing team delivering municipal engineering programs across Sudbury, Ottawa, Kingston, and Cornwall—balancing technical excellence, business growth, and people leadership. Reporting to the Discipline Director, you’ll provide technical, management, and financial leadership while strengthening client partnerships and creating opportunities through proposal development and business development.

You’ll join a collaborative team that values flexibility and work-life balance, supported by structured professional development, access to modern tools and resources, monthly team-building activities, and an internal network of subject matter experts dedicated to helping you grow and succeed.

Your Impact
  • Lead a multidisciplinary municipal engineering team (professionals, technicians, and support staff) to deliver high-quality land development and municipal infrastructure projects.
  • Drive project excellence by overseeing scope, schedule, budget, quality, and client service across multiple concurrent assignments.
  • Strengthen trusted client relationships and represent the practice in key stakeholder discussions, negotiations, and project pursuits.
  • Develop new business by identifying growth opportunities, cultivating partnerships, and preparing proposals that generate new work for the team.
  • Deliver complex municipal designs—roads, active transportation facilities, water and wastewater conveyance systems, and public spaces—supporting sustainable community development.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, standards, and guidelines, coordinating with stakeholders and multidisciplinary partners through design and construction.
  • Mentor and coach emerging professionals, building capability, confidence, and a culture of accountability and collaboration.
  • Champion effective resource planning and utilization, enabling balanced workloads and delivery performance across offices.
The Skills That Set You Apart
  • P.Eng. registration in Ontario with a University degree in Civil Engineering.
  • 15+ years leading preliminary and detailed design and project delivery for Ontario municipalities (e.g., City of Ottawa, MTO, and/or other Ontario jurisdictions).
  • 5+ years of proven people leadership, including mentoring, performance management, and building strong technical teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage financial performance (revenue, profitability, invoicing, accounts receivable, and key metrics).
  • Strong experience guiding teams to consistent use of project management tools, ensuring disciplined delivery and transparent reporting.
  • Proven capability in business development, including proposal leadership, client engagement, and pipeline growth.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and influence effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders in a fast-paced, multi-project environment.
